Big Ten's Rights Deal Threatens To Widen Financial Gap Between Even The Biggest Conferences

According to Wilner’s projections for 2018, distributions of more than $50 million would give the Big Ten a sizable revenue advantage over schools from the SEC (approximately $43 million each), the Big 12 ($36.5 million), the Pac-12 ($32 million) and the ACC ($28 million).

The SEC Network’s cash infusion has placed that conference in an enviable position, but the rights deal with ESPN is in place through 2033-34. The Big Ten’s TV contracts expire after 2022-23, sooner than all of the other major conferences'. That doesn’t necessarily mean the Big Ten will score an even more expensive deal in a few years, but the record viewership that Fox enjoyed in its first year as a Big Ten college football partner – a bounce of 23% in average viewership – is an early indication that the property will remain extremely valuable to the network.

The B1G TV deal comes up in 2023. The B12 deal comes up in 2025. The PAC is paying too many schools.

Could this mean a massive B1G expansion to 24, to include UConn, and various PAC & B12 schools?

UConn to finish off the NE Corridor + Texas & OU + USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal, WA, + 2 of KU/UO/CU/AZ.

The best way to ensue that happening is to win
An AAC football title and a major bowl win would certainly help the cause.

So would averaging better crowds than titans like UTSA, Troy, UAB, and D1-AA Montana & James Madison. A small 40k stadium and it's still only half full. Eight AAC schools have better average attendance and three have worse. UConn would need to increase attendance by 40% just to get to the AAC average. You should be glad the AAC will have you.

Unfortunately attendance, like ratings, is a reflection of on field/on court performance.

It wouldn't hurt, that's for sure, but will it help? I'm not convinced. It doesn't matter how good a candidate you are if there are no job openings.

Even when there are no job openings, you prep yourself as though there were. You make your resume shine, it's the only way that when there is an opening, you make sure you are the one chosen.
Besides, I'd rather bitch about the AAC (athletics) looking down from the top and feeling justified , than looking up from the bottom and feeling like a fool.
