Troy says, "Pound of feathers."

Excellent! For those who are Troy challenged, precious metals are measured in troy ounces, of which there are 14.58 to the pound, whereas feathers are measured by the avoirdupois standard of 16 oz. per lb.

I read that in a book I purchased at the book fair when I was in seventh grade. I also learned the answers to the following, compelling questions. Anybody know these?
  • Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
  • The difference between a teepee and a wigwam?
  • Who it was that said, "Let me get out of these wet clothes and into a dry martini?"

Not to be confused with General Sherman who said, "If I owned Texas and hell, I'd rent out Texas and live in hell.

Does a chicken coop have 2 or 4 doors?

Two. If it had 4 doors it would be a chicken sedan.

A rough gag to tell in CT where the greatest cicus fire and tragedy of all times occurred on July 6, 1944. 168 died. LINK

Not criticizing just noting one of the great tragedies in CT history.

Did you hear about the fire in the circus? The heat was in tents.

Or the church that caught fire? Holy smoke!

Or the boarding house that blew up. Rumors are flying.

Was it the same one who said

I'd like to have a martini. Two at the very most.
After 3 I'm under the table; after 4 I'm under my host.?

It sounds like Nick Charles (William Powell) in one of the "Thin Man" films...still great views some seventy years later!

One of my wife's and my favorite film series. Really funny tit for tat dialog with humorous sarcasm.
