Florida State Drama

I'm not sure why you need to add a has-been school like FSU and a flash in the pan like Clemson. Once you bring a school into your conference you are stuck with them forever and ever. I'm sure the SEC wishes it had a do over on Missouri.

Handle...says it all

In the event that the remaining schools are Virginia Tech, NC State, Duke, Wake Forest, Miami, ND, Georgia Tech, BC, Pitt, Syracuse and Louisville, I'd say that these schools are stronger than the B1G precisely because they are located in east coast states with population density.

I agree with what you said prior to this. Here I thought what you were leading up to is that Va Tech, NC State, Duke, Wake, Miami, Georgia Tech, BC, Pitt, Syracuse, Louisville, and UConn (Notre Dame a possible 13th if they don't land elsewhere) would make for a solid 12 team conference that would be equal or superior, in terms of value of media rights, to the B12 as currently constituted.

I assume "B1G" was just a mis-typing of B12?

Unless FSU has an offer from either the SEC or the Big 10 they aren't going anywhere. They aren't worth enough as an independent to make financial sense.
I think FSU is panicking. They aren't the powerhouse that they used to be, and now they are falling behind SEC and Big 10 schools financially. If they wait for the GOR to expire they not have any value to either the SEC or Big 10. I'm not convinced they any value to them now.

I'm not sure if you know but UNC guarantees every scholarship, so even if a player decides to go pro, play 10 plus years in the league etc, if they decide to return to school & complete their degree is covered 100% by the University. The AD is responsible for those funds. And can't get wrapped up in what is reported as revenue when UNC has well over 700 million spread across endowments that cover everything from scholarships to each sports operating budget
FSU also covers returning athletes....

.-.
It depends on the remaining schools. A lot of people seem to think the B1G and SEC want to pay $100m for NC State and Miami and Virginia Tech. Me, I'm not so sure. I actually think not.

UNC, UVa, FSU, Clemson will get landing spots. I don't think Miami will unless ND decides to join a conference.

That is certainly a stronger conference than the Big XII. And I agree with you — only UNC, UVA, Clemson and FSU can be confident they will have a chair when the ACC comes into play.

Yes, I messed that up.

Absolutely, though UVA might be a little questionable. Further, if FSU and Clemson were unfettered now, the SEC would already be calling. Then they would have 18 teams and a complete lock on the southeast and the best breeding ground for D-1 players. "The rich would get ridiculously richer..."

The B1G has coveted UVA for decades. They'll get their soft landing when the time comes.

Then you understand why UNC might agree on unequal revenue sharing to help cover current expenses. Now can get by either way, since our booster club raised 600 million over the last 5 years of which the AD only reported 116 million as revenue, we spent 200 million on facility improvements during that time, so that means 284 million dollars is collecting interest somewhere

UNC should spend money on having real classes. Worry about the sports stuff later.

Tomorrow is the deadline for any school in the ACC to notify the conference of their intent to withdraw for the 2024-25 school year.

FSU has to schedule a board meeting 24 hours in advance if such a vote were to take place.

Unless FSU publicly announces a Tuesday board meeting by midnight tonight, FSU doesn’t plan on leaving for the 2024-25 school year.

They never were.

They never were.
As for tomorrow's deadline, I'm going to recommend one song to all Florida State fans so they can understand what is going on. Think of your existence as being similar to the guests of the Hotel California. At least for a while longer.

I would assume that at this point in time, nobody needs a board meeting. Every network has a value on schools, and every conference has a a whiteboard with their desired targets in order, and every school would have the ability to do what they need to do on a moment's notice based on prior board meetings. I mean, how could everyone not be prepared at this point in time the way things are? I would find it shocking if we were asked today to join any conference today that it would actually take a board meeting needing to be called to say yes or no. but who knows? Maybe it really is a completely disorganized cluster.

And next year when we turn the calendar from July to August will get another round of FSU saber rattling and play the same "will they or won't they" game with the August 15th deadline.

They never were.

I think that's right....too much to put together and moving parts (requiring much) to play somewhere else next season...but...rumblimgs changed days ago that it looks like something may happen for 2025...

Stole my line pf a month back...

Says here Florida State is scared of UCF. I agree somewhat. More that they cannot stomach being viewed as being on the same level.

Ironic perhaps, since FSU is a former women's college and I'm sure Florida felt the same at some point (even if it was 1958 when they were finally forced to play them by the Florida legislature).
