Karaban needs to be on the court. Maybe not 39, but he shouldn’t and won’t sit much.
I still think that Demary is going to be just fine. He is probably still getting a feel for what is expected of him.
Smith as someone already said is an old school point. He is going to constantly attack a defense and make plays. Tough tough kid.
I don’t have any problem at all with Mullins coming in off the bench. Stewart starting doesn’t hurt this team at all. I think that it is helping him. You can see that Mullins has a high basketball IQ,and likely will become a prolific scorer for UConn. I think that he has some growing to do physically. Looks to me like he gets knocked around a bit when he is out there.

I'm not sure it's worth taking a few seconds off the clock with 3-4 minutes left in the game if it compromises your ability to get the ball inbounds without turning it over. I'd revisit that if I were the coaches. Under a minute probably worth it but as you pointed out under a minute left the clock stops anyway.

My only counterargument is that for the most part they don't turn it over. It looks really ugly and appears to be on the verge of disaster at any second. But there's been very few actual turnovers and other than Seton Hall last year no blown leads

True... But it's like saying there's a known issue with your brakes. Sometimes they are not as responsive, but they usually always kick in at the last moment. We're going on year two of a complete circus trying to inbound the ball and press break. Even when it's done without error, it's an adventure.

A few comments on the final 45 seconds

• We NEED to work on inbounding. Even that foul on Bland on Alex's inbound pass was almost a turnover as was the trap before Danny called timeout
• We played with NO bigs on the floor for the final 45 seconds-presumably for FT shooting and inbounding (how'd that work out?) and without Tarris, Florida took only 5 seconds to score a simple layup. In fact, Bland went to the basket 3 times in the final 45 seconds resulting in 6 points. Tarris or Reibe woulda swatted those away. Also, I trust Tarris in the corner (if we're foolish enough to keep passing to the corner) to see over the trap and get rid of it way faster than Ross.

I only counted one bad point by Mullins. Where was the second one? I agree he plays pretty good defense.

Someone said 35. I thought that was still too much, but I could agree to that.

I don’t mind even when he gets caught in no where land. He is making things happen and more times than not good things have happened.

Mullins definitely got kicked around last night amongst the trees and once he stops forcing shots he will shine. He is way ahead of where I thought he would be. He is what he is physically as this kid is one and done.

Florida's rebounding and the FT disparity is what kept them in the game.

Florida had 16 offensive rebounds, to UConn's 7, but only 6 second chance points. I thought that was an interesting stat. So they really didn't take advantage of their huge rebounding edge. Florida had 24 defensive rebounds to UConn's 21.

Not something Geno's teams have been particularly good at, either, though it rarely matters. You can go back to some of their lesser teams in the early 2000s, but 2 years ago, that was one of the things that did them in against Ohio State in the sweet 16,

Personally, I explicitly saw this problem coming for Silas. He wasn’t much of a distributor at Georgia. He’s learning how to be that here. It doesn’t have much to do with the system as much as it’s a learning curve for his game in general knowing when to pick his spots.

He’ll be fine later in the year and takeoff year 2. But being a real PG is the hardest position on the court.

I posted this exact thing after the East Texas A&M game. Gotta have some patience.

Which brings me to post about Reed's name. In the last week I've seen his name spelled Read and Reid a lot. His name is Reed. Like the stuff you make baskets out of. Seems really strange to me how many times we've seen him play with "Reed" on the back of his jersey and then spell his name wrong. He's become the new Tristen/Tristan. Mullins/Mullens is up there too.

I'm being slightly hyperbolic saying THE best, but espn and 247 sports had him as the 9th ranked guard transfer right behind Gilesspe. So Definitely firmly in the elite tier whereas TNew was right around 25-30.

A gritty, slugfest. Not pretty, but these are the games you have to be able to win. We were overmatched inside, and once again lost the battle of the boards, but what's encouraging is the team had great resolve and was determined to get the win. I love how unselfish this team is and how everyone stepped up in moments when they needed to. Defense was tenacious. With Hurley's culture, every minute a player plays counts- and I love that.

A side note- I find Todd Golden really grating and annoying. I thought he should have been whistled for a T after his tirade when Solo was clearly fouled by being grabbled around the waist. On the other hand, we have to be impressed at how Hurley has really practiced restraint for the most part thus far.

In chat. I questioned where the T was on Golden. I guess the refs weren't calling a T at that late stage.

Guys, we're 9-1 with some big time wins without having our team 100% for any of the games so far this year and people are b!+ching about Silas being lost and Mullins defense? Come on! We're only going to get better from this point forward. Maybe try focusing on the many positives rather than nitpicking. If we need Silas to score 20, he can do that but that's not needed in this offense.

This place is a cesspool of negatively sometimes. Lest you forget pre-Hurley, we were losing games at Gampel to mid-majors. Can we please just let the team develop?

100% we need to appreciate what Hurley has rebuilt. He’s a once in generation coach

Been thinking about this win all day. Last night's game was incredibly physical, which is always good practice before we go into Big East play.

It was a good foul as it worked out well for us. He prevented an easy basket at a critical time when Florida was gaining momentum. Basically resulted in a turnover due to the two missed free throws. It wasn’t his night and he was pretty much a non factor.

The foul was with 2:40, resulted in retaining a four point lead and Malachi replacing him. You certainly don’t draw that up so I get your point, but it actually worked out just fine for us.

I think overall this is a very good assessment. It's like they were freaked out about how rough things were getting and then trying to make up for other calls. I don't think either team benefitted by it would be funny if they metered the Fla coaches profanity. A real potty mouth. I thought it was funny they kept the camera on him.

The offset was the perimeter depth and of course the motion offensive sets. Lee was absolutely gassed chasing Ball all game..as evident by the jersey pulling. There weren’t many bad shots through the course of the game for UConn.

LOL it kind of knocked him off his Ivy League perch. He also had a nice entrance into Mali World in the second half.
