Yep looking forward to see what Tarris can do next year and also improve on his D. We do need to feed the beast. Something we did an awful job with this year but part of that was due to the player limitations on penetrating on the court.
Yes. We need more players that can reliably feed Tarris in the post. He also has to unlearn some of his bad habits, like reaching in at the 3-point line. He's probably had 2 steals like that all season while committing 30+ reach-in fouls. That being said, he's on the precipice of putting it all together and I think will be unstoppable next year when his role is even more clear than it was this season.

I'm sure the trolls will come out in droves, because that's what we do here.

Reality check? We lost a ton of pieces after winning two titles. We had a couple of recruiting misses. We knew this team was deeply flawed going into the tourney and still held out own against the one-seed.

Sign me up for our floor being a top-50 team winning a games or two in March.

I'm proud of this team. They left it all on the floor.

Throw in some injuries. Liam and Hass' injuries contributed greatly to how the middle of the season went. Not sure we got to see the best of either since then either, especially Hass. Kid put his all into it but the explosiveness he had early in the season wasn't the same at the end. Same with Liam IMO.

I agree, sign me up for this being the floor and Hurley can coach until he's 75.

The easy quick answer is that we played our hearts out and weren’t supposed to win anyways, but anybody who watched that game realizes that is so far from the truth -we played our asses off and SHOULD OF won that game!!! Can’t remember a loss that stings this bad.

While I agree we need guys who can feed him, we also have to f$&:ing use him. I know he had fouls etc., but I think he got like 3 post up ops the whole game. This is a recurring theme where he is just not used to his skill set. Meanwhile we’re taking 9000 threes with Tarris setting high screens.

Tarris can easily be BE 1st team next year.

I think this offseason with a little more conditioning (getting a little leaner) would do wonders for Tarris. That and another offseason getting familiar with our system cannot hurt either.

They know what they gotta do.

Personally, outside of Alex, Solo and Tarris, I don’t really care who leaves. (I assume Liam is NBA-bound, but would love to see him back.) It’s nothing we cannot get in spades in the portal.
I think we need to see Stew come back. We have watched him grow and develop, and it would be a shame to see he a beast somewhere else.

Solo, Alex, Stew, and Tarris + Abraham and Nowell

Throw in the 4 kids (Johnny, Mullins, Adams, and Reibe) and spend your efforts on getting the best damn PG available.

Florida had 27 FTA in the second half after going to the line 7 times in the first half.

UConn had 14 FTA in the second half after going to the line 6 times in the first half.

There was a clear re-calibration of what was a foul and who was fouling from the first half to the second.

In the end, on this day, we did not have the talent to overcome what was this teams Achilles heal. FTA discrepancy is real and it has cost us in everyone of our losses. Dan Hurley is right for b*tchng at the refs. Stats back him up.

Ummm 2006 final 4 against George Mason, 2009 final 4 against MSU…Those teams had legit championship aspirations. This is getting a tad ridiculous. This L doesn’t even register. We should be nothing but proud of the fight the team just showed after a tough season. No regrets. And yeah thankfully CSU didn’t hang on.

A game like today will send Solo into overdrive this offseason, and even with his struggles he still made yet another clutch game tying 3. 1st team All BE and an All American caliber season will be on deck next year.
He saved them vs. OU and seems to have hit another gear in late February, early March. He started driving a bit more (not all the way to the rim) and passing better. Game got easier. Really looking forward to what he is next year, and I think you've pinned what might be expected.

Why does it matter? He wasn't as great of a shooter or a great dribbler as he was though of. I would of preferred to have Freshman Steph on his year's team over him as we needed someone to penetrate and play great D. 38% overall and 32% 3 point is bad for a shooter. He wasn't a great fit with Karaban. They really were too similar in the long run.
Why does it matter? Because freshman get better.

Steph is NBA ROY. How many of those have we had?

Some thoughts on this year’s team.

  • Solo is our best outside shooter. For whatever reason Solo seems to spend more time running the baseline than out on the three point line when McNeeley is in the game. I think this activity should have been reversed. It would be interesting to know the percentage of Solo’s three point shots taken and made when McNeeley was in/out of the game. Not saying this was McNeeley’s fault. Just how the two players fit together and were used.
  • I won’t beat the Samson/Reed debate except to say, Samson gave his all and Reed should dominate next year. Hope its in Storrs.
  • High hedge: If they want to run it, they need a third somewhat capable Center. It results in too many wasted fouls. Hit the portal hard.
  • The team never had a reliable option that would/could drive it to the rim and hit the contested shot.
  • Overall, the team went down fighting like Husky teams do. Entertaining year. Already checking the Internet hourly for portal updates.

Can't understand anyone walking away from this game ashamed or angry.
They were valient.Coaching was fantastic.
Some fans here must be trolls or spoiled and entitled.
Agree

This team was what it was and played its heart out, and came up short to a teak that some on here thought would win by double digits

No shame in how we played. Kids played their asses off and showed a ton of pride. Hass, Samson, etc. left it all on the floor and went out like champions. Hurts because the way they won is what I thought it would take for us to win but we actually outplayed them and just didn’t make enough shots and they made the tough shots. We looked like a team that could 3-peat.
