Ya I try to never bring that game up, this is not close to the worse loss for me, sure it sucks though. That was CLOSE to the worst... Game vs George Mason was the worst IMHO
I think y'all forget how many other players who "disappointed" in college but had the physical assets turned into absolute beasts in the NBA.A freakish body? That’s what gets you fired as a GM
Stop with this stat padding nonsense. It's called competing and trying to win the game. He got it to a one possession game where we could've tied it by forcing a turnover or some misses at the line.Padded his stats after the game was over.
Biggest disappointment of a highly rated recruit since Alterique Gilbert
I'm tired of this terrible take. They lost by TWO. Sure, Clayton was clutch for them. UConn did not have a guy like that. Other than that, UConn had plenty of talent to win this game.Hurley’s gameplan gave us a real good shot to win.
Talent won that game. We didn’t have it.
Tomorrow there will tons of news about the portal now that we are not in the tournament and the portal opens. Any player that saw us almost beat the team that everyone thought was going to roll to the title because of…well just because….we are UConn and all that means, will think no matter what this coach is going to get me where I want to go.Whats the difference between now and tomorrow?
Relax about what. All I said is he needs to stay? His numbers were horrible down the stretch. How can you watch him if you’re an NBA scout and this he’s an NBA player?
Fantastic game. Lots of fight. Don’t think many people gave them a chance.
Truth be told if any of the eight or nine players who got in the game for UConn made one more three-point shot we win by one. Insert your own aunts uncles and balls comments it is what it is. Not sure why the need to single people out.Padded his stats after the game was over.
Biggest disappointment of a highly rated recruit since Alterique Gilbert
Hang in there. Keep fighting.Awful if true. The boneyard loves you scrappy!
Indeed. Everyone gave it their all today. This team had its flaws, but I never questioned their heart and it was on full display today. I also know that Hurley is going to be as motivated as ever to get us back to the top after this loss, looking forward to what the offseason holdsI loved that interview. He lives this stuff. He was great today.
Bummer of a loss but proud of these kids for answering the bell.
Not to mention Florida shooting 9-19 from three. Crazy good. Another theme of the season, though not much you could do with Clayton's sidestep, off balance threes. No defense for that. Our defense was really good today. Probably best defensive game of the year. Most of their shots were contested. We missed wide open threes and you just can’t do that when you are an 8 playing a one. Tough game but we will be back.
Your first two posts in this thread are the worst two posts up to the point they've appeared. I wonder if there will be more. Whether there are or not, lean in to your feelings and your mystification, and then see if they contain any clues for you to grow from this.that was an extremely winnable game. don’t understand all these moral victory comments. this is UConn, not a mid-major that is happy to be there.
He did coach a great game other than giving Liam so much rope and burying Stewie on the bench in the 2nd half. Liam absolutely killed us the entire game except when it didn’t matter anymoreAll we had to do was shoot decent and we win comfortably. Frustrating end to a frustrating season. Excited to see what the current and future newcomers can do next year.
Thought Hurley coached a good game but wish we did something different during that five minute scoring drought down the stretch.
Stay strong brother! Fight til the end like this UCONN team didI was hoping for win for ‘selfish ‘ personal reasons. I have a life threatening disease with no cure so I may be around next year at least I have a chance at the football UConn season. I apologize if It appears that I am looking for sympathy. I am not just want to say good buy to you Yarders in case I am correct. Been a fan of both UConn basketball and football since the early 1960.’s. Good luck UConn and good luck Yatders.
Sorry to hear that Scrappy. Listen to Temery, it isn't over until you say it's over.According to my doctors this might be my last husky game-/ what a ride. Thank you to Jim Calhoun Kevin Ollie dan Hurley and especially all the great players. Thanks for managing the board here! Best of luck
He really improved his game this year. I can envision him become a Devin Carter type player who can also drain 3s. I also liked what Stew brought today. Solid minutes.A game like today will send Solo into overdrive this offseason, and even with his struggles he still made yet another clutch game tying 3. 1st team All BE and an All American caliber season will be on deck next year.
I haven’t heard any excuses. Maybe some indelicate and unnecessary observations but not excuses. Another dick commentSorry....this game should have been won.....excuses are excuses...
Missed FT rebound at 1:45 led to 2 fts by Clayton...Missed FT rebound at ;43 led to Martin dunk...say what you want but those two missed FTS were HUGEGame was basically over before that - missed open looks was the difference. Defense was beyond point, offense not so much,
I’d be shocked if anyone in the chat room would send hate messages. That’s just juvenile. The chat got a bit scary there for a bit. Please please please don't be dumb and send hate messages to the players. While it's disappointing, the run had to eventually end...and they put up a great fight against a team that absolutely could be the champs at the end of the day.
Proud of the boys...let's go UConn!
Nah. Whole point of fouls is to get the ball back. They miss FTs and instead of getting the ball, they get it AND score.Game was basically over before that - missed open looks was the difference. Defense was beyond point, offense not so much,
Indeed. 4 point swing in a 2 point game.Missed FT rebound at 1:45 led to 2 fts by Clayton...Missed FT rebound at ;43 led to Martin dunk...say what you want but those two missed FTS were HUGE
Reminiscent of the 2002 loss to Maryland. UConn with the lead late, but could not seal the deal.A word for those limited to this millennium. This was a very 90's tournament loss. Played well, just not well enough to beat a good team with a great player.
Clayton was clearly the difference. Yes, we could have made a few more easy buckets but we also couldn't have predicted the championship class effort in defense. Best game Samson Johnson ever played. Hass showed up at both ends. Stewart, Mahaney and Reed played well for long stretches. Our scorers scored, even if you didn't like the percentages. Our staff was better than there staff.
As I said in another thread, we should regret losing the games that put us at 8 and having to face a tournament favorite so early. Today's effort would have beat most other teams in the field.
Literally can't win them all.
I think your quoting someone else lol, rhymes with ‘Love’You did say we were up or winning and then McNeeley happened? I really get the comment and it might not been your intention but it read like it. I know you understand the game too well to pin it on one player, as I have said I don’t think he was 100% over the last ten games. He tweaked that ankle somewhere along the line.
We had the talent, IMO. We just didn't have great execution. At some point during the chat with around 7 mins left, I posted that we can't afford to keep missing bunnies as eventually FL would start hitting a bunch of threes. And they did.Hurley’s gameplan gave us a real good shot to win.
Talent won that game. We didn’t have it.
