Fixing the bowl season...

Nice blog post. Couldn't agree more with your topic on eliminating bowls with lousy attendance and ending the ticket stipulations. Those two things would limit the number of bowls. You mentioned making it a 6 FBS win requirement. I'd raise that to 8. Why reward a team for being .500 or 7-5? That's just a joke. Limit the number of bowls. I also like your idea of eliminating bowl conference tie ins.

Unfortunately, you, along with many others, see solutions that will never be realized due to the almighty dollar. Shame.....

Agree, too many bowls with teams of the mediocre level. You mention the almighty dollar, many a school had to lose money this year yes/no?

I don't understand why fans want to eliminate bowl games, more games the better. I love watching college football, no skin off my back or yours if there is a lot them. More kids have a chance to play a final game and travel to a different location, play on national tv and have a chance to end their career on a high note.

Who cares if attendance is lousy you are not losing any money.

I tend to agree. If you think a game shouldn't be played, I would think not watching would be an adequate remedy. I'm not sure why you need to eliinate the ability of the few who want to go and watch to do so.

I really like most of the ideas. We don't need so many bowls spread out after New Year's either. Condense the end of the season too.

The only problem is schools are losing money. I agree 100% about having more games. Why not, if you don't like the game you can always not watch it, but if someone in Boise wants to host a bowl game and nobody else cares, why not have it? I'm sure few people in the country really cared about the papajohns.com bowl a few years ago, but I had a blast there and a lot of other fans did as well. What could be better than hanging out in downtown Birmingham with a few thousand Husky fans after sending the Gamecocks home disappointed? The only problem I have is with the ticket quotas and things like that. There shouldn't be a dark cloud to every silver lining.

The extra month of practice for college kids who get limited practice time anyways is a really important thing as well.

Just another reason to be extremely pissed at P & D right now. We could sure as heck use the extra practice.
