One named not mentioned yet, Buzz. I'd prefer another hardazz, firebrand. He fits the bill.

Hopefully WM will do his due diligence and find a guy that won't just win games, but win championships. Kansas hit a home run getting Bill Self from Illinois. Feel Sean Miller could be a similar hire. Having lived in Tucson for a few years, other than the hot weather, Tucson/UofA really has nothing to offer above UConn.

No Frank Haith Please! Look at his Wiki page. He made the tournament 1 time in 7 seasons at Miami and never had a conference record over .500. He was probably getting fired from Miami if Missouri didn't throw him a life line. He didn't win at Miami and the basketball team was involved in the booster scandal. Yes he had a nice season at Missouri but it was just 1, with the previous coach's players and they flamed out against a 15 seed. No thanks!

In this order
Donovan
Ollie, Miller, Smart, Wright

Billy Donovan is my shoot for the stars candidate...the others are all equal..with Wright a slight step behind. Brad Stevens would be IMHO a COMPLETE disaster here.

1 John Wooden
2 Red Holtzman
3 Phil Jackson
4 Bill Bradley
5 If the aforementioned are unavailable would be delighted to have Kevin Olie :)

sean miller would not leave arizona to come to Uconn

Brad Stevens
Kevin Ollie
Frank Vogel (yea I know, steal the young good coaches away from Indiana)
Jay Wright
Buzz

Oh I see...!

I don't know about the dirty news part, but he's done one hell of a job at Missouri. Granted we definitely do not want any more bad media exposure than we're already getting.

the dirt will eventually come out on him. hes a part of all the miami stuff. if uconn ever touched him the ncaa would have a field day. he also sucks as a coach. end of story with that guy.

its amazing to me to see some the names being throw around.

you dont touch anybody from miami the past 10 years. haith
you dont touch anyone from indiana in the past 2 years. dirty aau scam going on there.
etc etc. this thread creeps me out fanbase wise.

im ko/Kayleigh Heckel first then if we can pay donovan the $$, then thats gravy. miller i feel can be lured close to home for the right price. i would love either of these 2 guys with ko/Kayleigh Heckel staying on the staff to give us a combo of family and splash. after that you guys are scaring the out of me. this isn't a normal make a 10 man list and see whats up with each. we have a top 3 or 4 guy literally taking at the office already. we dont need to go deep on a list and we need to aim extremely high to protect our brand and program. its family or splash. anything else and espn and friends will media wise beat the crap out of us with nbe this, coach that etc...

i think millers family is from the east coast and when his name was going around for some job, espn said his wife wants to come back

Not sure, he passed on Maryland and right now and Maryland might be a better job right now -- better facilities, better league, better local talent, at least or more hoops passion, etc.

^is that a joke? md is a better job then who? not az, not uconn. thats for dam sure. i dont care if md had a freaking gold toliet for each recruit, its not a better job. who are the best players to come out of that state in the best 10 years? where did they go to college? md bball is 10 times worse than cuse. just like we joke about cuse being a 1 time special, acc teams do the same about md.

More passion? They are as fairweather as you get.

Donovan would be #1, but I doubt he'd leave Florida. Miller would be #2, but I doubt he'd leave Arizona. Next would be Few, Stevens and Smart. Ollie would be further down the list. Never coached at any level and you want him to start at UConn?

These threads have become tiresome. Timing wise, none of the suggested coaches that have been mentioned are about to walk through that door. At this point it's likely JC or Ollie at the wheel for this coming season. If JC returns, it will be very interesting if he coaches all the games, and if he doesn't, who fills in. I felt they wasted an opportunity to give KO some sideline experience last season, but in hindsight, seeing how dysfunctional a group they had become, it's probably good we didn't see him in that role with that group, possibly drawing some wrong conclusions.

Anyhow, I'm tired of even thinking about this. I just hope JC makes some sort of announcement soon about this upcoming season and once he does that, we'll go from there.

No matter who is at the helm, I hope the team comes out of the gate competing well and improving as the season goes on, unlike last season where the team seemed to digress.

As long as UConn maintains the perception of being a top flight program, recruits will continue to show interest. We eventually need a solid long term HC solution and maintain a high level of talent as the program goes through this transition. The staff keeps on bringing in talent, though who knows what elite talent we might be missing on due to all this uncertainty. Talented Coaching + Talented Players = Success. It’s that simple.
