Hello all,
This is my first time posting on the yard, have for years been a lurker but now decided to post.
I have bled blue since "The Shot", it was the first game I ever watched as a kid, luckily for all of us we have been blessed with many great years of following our team. I currently live in Indiana (never been to Connecticut) and have never been to a game. For many years I had entertained the thought when Notre Dame was in the BE, but couldn't get myself to travel the 3 hour drive and sit amongst that group. Well now my fortunes have changed. I work for a national senior living company and have for the past several years covered the Midwest, but organizational changes have redirected me to cover east coast operations, my job requires me to travel for 20-25 days a month. I found out last night that I will be headed to Manchester, CT in February. So as any of us in this situation would do, I pulled up the schedule and looked for an opportunity to finally get to a game. I will be in town starting on the 7th, which makes the possibility of getting over to campus on the 13th my best option (Tulsa game) if anybody wants to meet up pregame, postgame I would love to meet some yarders. I'm open to any feedback any locals can give.

It always amazes me that Husky fans could lurk but never feel compelled to post here. Even fans of other schools feel compelled to post here. I've been here for years and my posts are only 2,000. Look at the numbers of some posters here.

So your coming from Indiana. A couple of things you should know. First we like to have all our residents and visitors have all their teeth. So make sure you get them fixed. If there are no dentists in the Hoosier state make an appointment while here. Second I know in Indiana it's custom to marry a cousin but that doesn't go over well here. And finally make sure you get to a game while here, but keep in mind if we lose it's on you.

I always get a kick out of people feeling like they have to validate how big a fan they are. "I've followed this team since 1963!!!". Trust me, newbie....there are as many old morons on this board as there are young morons.

Good advice! just took a 2nd mortgage out on my double-wide to take care of just such a thing.

I would meet up with you, but I only meet up with people with more than 590 trophy points.

Of course there are a lot of resources of where to eat on this Board. CT Pizza is still the best in the country. A couple of casinos around to steal your money. I'm not in Hartford County but you will find some local game watchers and 'alcoholics' who would also like to steal your money (or your company's expense money) via buying rounds. Weather (i.e. ground conditions) may dilute or affect your activities. Being a UConn fan it would be great to see both the women and men play. Ask around for how to get the best tickets for great seats to make the most of your experience.

I'm sure you are aware that Boston and NYC (train from New Haven) are near enough for a day trip so try and plan that in your schedule.

Lastly welcome to the Board.

3 hours from Indiana? You drive fast. I have a ticket to that game and I'm going solo so I should be good to host you for a beer somewhere, let's talk as it gets closer. Fair warning, I've missed the last 3 games I've had tickets for.

He meant to South Bend. Or he has a Batmobile. One of those two things.

I'm also in Indiana, near South Bend, but am originally from Waterbury, CT. It's Kentucky and farther south that marries their cousins and have no teeth or farther north as in Vermont.

Kind of like extraterrestrial life. They're probably out there, but no one can prove they exist.

Oh yeah sorry I get the two states mixed up. Indiana is the no toilet state right?

Although reportedly not quite up to the lofty standards of the original New Haven location, you should make sure to get some pizza at the Pepe's in Manchester.

The Hungry Tiger is a good local spot for live music.

Cavey's is an excellent local restaurant (French cuisine downstairs; Italian upstairs).

Welcome to the Nutmeg State. Advice: don't eat at Pepe's at Manchester thinking it's the same as the New Haven one.

I highly envy you for living in the land of Culver's and Waffle House.

Blonde hair and taut skin is just a light switch away.
I've always wonder how really old people 'do it'. They look at their partner and think/say "You WERE so hot!" I imagine Viagra makes it a bit easier.
