I was shocked when I saw that update on NFL Network this morning too... Even more shocked when I read yesterday that more than one NFL team was interviewing Marrone...

Not good for us now...Syracuse openings lessens the # of assistant coaches to choose from.. We still need a DC, ST, and RB coach....

Who really cares? We are just treading water for the next year anyway.

I'm a caring guy.

I wish them a half-decade of Greg Robinson ... another smooth choice by the Doctor Gross.

At first I wondered if ending up in Buffalo can be viewed as a reward but considering he gets to leave Syracuse, it is quite an upgrade in location.

Buffalo is a train wreck I think their def front 4 proved that.

Now Marrone gets to coach the WR that caught the ball to run up the score against the Fruit 4 seasons ago.

Marrone will do well in Buffalo, it's a good opportunity for him, too bad for Syracuse, not.

I don't know about that...Buffalo isn't too far behind Detroit!

Buffalo is a really nice city, believe it or not. But the Bills are a disaster, and it's all because of drafting by personnel and the front office. Unfortunately, that problem hasn't been solved. And I say this as a Patriot fan. On the defensive side of the ball, that team has big problems. On the offensive side, they are only a QB away from being really good. But that's saying a lot, obviously.

I like living in cities. When I lived in Ann Arbor, I headed to Detroit a couple times looking for a loft apartment to commute from. Couldn't find people there, nor even landlords. This was about 8-10 years ago.

I live in Buffalo now. The city is actually quite beautiful--a remnant of what this place was a century ago when it had first class parks and opulent homes. Most people don't realize what's here (I know I didn't) but Providence, New Haven, Philly, etc., can't hold a candle to the opulence of the homes. There are huge downsides though to the segregation and the poverty on the East side especially, but the core of Buffalo is pretty strong and makes for a great place to live (and I've lived all over New England--Boston, Providence, New Haven, and elsewhere).

Actually, I'm wondering if PP can go into some houses of common recruits and use this as leverage to get them to come eastward, like DT Isaiah Johnson or prospective recruit RB Laray Smith? (I would add Augustus Edwards to that list, but they can keep him after the disgusting episode in NY)

lol...come to uconn where u will get to play tulane and ECU and be coached by a staff of three.

Its funny that everyone was worried about what firing PP would do to recruiting (can't have two turnovers in three years years!!!) yet with no assistant coaches of repute and a lame duck head coach with no future, how can you possibly recruit anyways?

And yet we've retained the vast majority of our three-star recruits (and highly rated two-star recruits), even with all the conference and coaching turmoil. Do you have an explanation for that?

Look, I'll be the first one to admit that I don't want Pasqualoni in charge of our timeouts, but let's give credit where credit is due. On paper, this is the best recruiting class that we've ever had, and he's doing it during a time where everything has gone to crap around us. So him being able to talk two more kids to come here, now that the head coach at Syracuse is gone, is not really all that hard to fathom. One of the two kids I've mentioned is undecided right now...

Greg Schiano and Doug Marrone were both beaten by P last year. This must mean that Edsall gets his NFL job next year. It is amazing how far you can get on mediocrity.

Does it snow there?

Does the water of lake Erie ever get above 75 degrees?

The answers to those two questions explain why I'd never move back to that area. I lived in Rochester for five years and thought it was a great place and visited Buffalo quite often too. But snow more than once a year, frost more than five times a year and water that doesn't reach 80 degrees for at least five months are show stoppers.

It is cold here.

But the last two and a half years we've had ideal weather until the Dec. 26th storm. While the East Coast experienced noreasters and hurricanes and tornadoes, it has been sunny, dry, warm and not much snow up here. And when I say not much, I'm talking about nothing more than an inch or two now and again. Last year, we hit 60 degrees in February, and didn't dip below mid-50s again until mid-December of this year. Having grown up in Ct., I too am getting tired of the cold weather (my kids love it though since they are involved in winter sports, they are ice skating right now at the open rotary rink in downtown Buffalo, and the temperature is 40 degrees in early January). I would definitely enjoy a warm climate. I had an offer to move to Miami several years ago, and rejected it. I can't say I regret it.

By the way, it snows a lot here in what they call the Southtowns due to Lake Effect. But it rarely hits the city of Buffalo. Typically, it is very sunny here and the cloud cover doesn't start until you hit I-90, then it extends clear across the state.

Have a look at what Lake Effect means for people who live in the city (this picture is taken from the train station):

If you lived in Providence before 1995, it's not comparable. Completely different city now.

Lived in providence in 1995-1997, and go back often. Just ate at Garibaldi's Mexican 5 days ago. The main difference is the Mall, but I'm actually not a fan. Regardless, I think the comparison is apt. I'd rather be in Providence because I love Boston and the Cape and could drive to Horseneck Beach, etc. I also like Boston better than Toronto (which is 1 hr. 15 mins from me).
