This is actually terrible. If the women don’t wanna play they don’t have to

I’m halfway between you and Blueballer. I get it’s a non-serious exhibition, but the women really put no effort into playing basketball tonight.

It was pretty much uneventful for me also, however I went with a friend and his grand kids and they had a ball. I get that the coaches don't want injuries prior to the start of the season, and the men were just a bad as the women, it was a cakewalk. However it was great to be in Gample regardless in support of our basketball teams.

It hasn’t been good in years. Started shortly after it was moved to the evening from midnight. It’s a pep rally and nothing more which is fine. It’s for the students and if they like it than mission accomplished.

Do think the board and the new championship displays looks like a major upgrade to our beloved gampel.

They were gong up against their own teammates. Given all the injuries the women have had over the past few years do you really think they'd be playing hard?

Well, google now considers "First Night" to be "obscene sexual content."

If you’re gonna take peoples time, giving them something semi interesting to watch feels like the bare minimum. May as well stop having first nights at this rate.

No wonder Hurley doesn’t use it as a recruiting tool

The team of Jayden Ross & Allie Ziebell shot a combined 37/48 on two rounds to win the 3pt contest. Pretty sick stuff.

Like I said a week ago. ITS POINTLESS. In its current iteration it’s actual an unnecessary risk to players health. If this is what it’s going to be just dead it.

So... when did it become pointless and when wasn't it an "unnecessary risk to players health" ?? Was the Boatright vs. Drummond dunk contest not a risk to their health ?

It wasn’t pointless because it was actually entertaining

I miss those blue white scrimmages of midnight madness.

But I enjoyed watching the players being announced and hearing their fellow students cheer them.

There’s a kindred spirit between the men’s and women’s players and coaches. It’s hokey and a waste for many of us but this is about students having a fun experience. These are potential future supporters of basketball. Besides AK takes the 3 pt shooting contest very seriously. He was bummed that Ross/Zeibell won.

Rather than complain just stop watching. If the students stop going they’ll either change the format or eliminate First Night. My hope is the kids have a lot of fun at these events.

I thought first night was okay. Even though it’s hard to glean much from the activities Ross showed me he can really shoot and has the ability to play meaningful minutes. I think Danny feels the same way. BTW this looks like the deepest women’s team in a long time.
