First NET Rankings

So, the NET calculation on the NCAA page does use the new quad cutoffs the selection committee will be using? It makes sense, of course, but when I saw the Warren Nolan quads stayed the same as last season, I wasn’t sure what was happening.

...

The Warren Nolan rankings have the same results as the NCAA website. That makes me wonder if he is actually using the new cutoffs but just hasn’t changed the graphic on the site that still has the old cutoffs listed.
The info on the NCAA Statistics page is from the horse's mouth.

The quad system is new this year to WBB. Before this year, the women's team sheets used by the committee were organized strictly by opponent ranking range (1-25, 26-50, 51-100, 100+) regardless of game location. Warren's site has mistakenly been using the men's quad system for his WBB page all along, and that flaw has persisted into this season.

The rankings and the four quad groupings are two separate things. Just because he's used the wrong quad ranges doesn't mean he has the rankings 1-362 wrong. The quad cutoffs don't change a team's ranking.

@Plebe: I believe Nolan is using the correct ranges but has not changed his identification of the four different ranges
That's the point I was awkwardly trying to make above. Still, his site has Vandy with three Q2 wins when they are actually Q3 wins, so I'm not sure what to think. The NCAA link that @Plebe posted earlier solves that problem as it lists the correct quads for each team's games.

I surrender. I cannot defense Warren Nolan’s NET nitty gritty anymore aymore.

:D I still like his site very much. It's just that, for now, at least, his quad information is not correct. The NCAA site lists the quad info the selection committee will use. Want another kick in the teeth just for fun? Guess who has the best record against Top 100 NET teams...LSU at 4-0. That just sounds weird.

But that's not used AFAIK. The quads are the key metric.

And yet it’s pitiful that they have only played four top 100 teams.

Yes, his quad designations are off, but his rankings aren't. There's nothing more to think than that.

Record vs top 100 NET is not a useful metric. A home game against a "top 100" team could range anywhere from Quad 1 (vs. 1-25) to Quad 4 (91+).

Iowa State at 76 is interesting
Interesting but not very surprising given their struggles thus far.

Well, our friends at Warren Nolan attempted to correct their charts for the four quads. "A" for effort, but they got it wrong, at least part of it. In the "away" line for Quad 1, they have 1-40 when it should be 1-45. That, in turn, created a problem in the "away" line for Quad 2, which they have as 41-80 when it should be 46-80. I'm getting old and am easily entertained. I can't wait to see what they do next. ;)
