My buddy @nwhoopfan was looking for a new music thread, and I'd been thinking about this for awhile. Every so often, and certainly in some periods moreso than others, an artist comes around that blows your mind, and often the first moment from their first album lets you know you'll never listen to music the same way again.

So post a first track from a first album that fits the bill. I usually leave the low-hanging fruit for others, but I must post the one that I come back to again and again. Music was never the same after Jimi Hendrix:

"Madman Drummers Bummers and Indians in the Summer with a Teenage Diplomat.
In the Dumps with the Mumps as the Adolescent Pumps His Way Into His Hat."

It was bye bye Connecticut, we were airborne. The start of a 45 year near obsession.

Michael Franks - "Just Like Key Largo" from his first album - I can just picture that smokey late night bar with Bogie and Lauren BaCall:

I can't remember the first album I purchased but I do recall the first 45. It was "Alley Oop" by Dante & The Evergreens. The Hollywood Argyles had a bigger hit with the same song but the Dante & The Evergreens version was more popular on the East Coast.

Sorry @Bigboote, I've bastardized your thread.

Cream - Fresh Cream

Only on the US release.
On the UK release, the first track is N.S.U.

Either song would have "hooked" me upon listening to them but I had the US release.

Moody Blues - Dawn is a Feeling from Days of Future Passed
They had a hit in 1965 with Go Now. Subsequently Justin Hayward and John Lodge joined the group to form the lineup that would go on to record many great albums. In 1967 they released Days of Future Passed. It was not a hit initially in the US but a couple of years later the FM stations started playing Nights in White Satin and Tuesday Afternoon and the album became a big hit.

This is pretty much all I got based on the criteria:

The first track is Amanda. A good song but not a wow song.
