Breeding did the MSU game and was very good. Anderson is one of the best. Groover, Kissinger , Shows, Kimble and Sirmons are also good. Don’t know the others.

I agree about Breeding. However he was good vs MSU which surprised me. I was shocked when I saw he was doing the game.

ESPN today seemed to imply that Roger Ayers may have been left off this list because of the strange "head-butt" incident at the end of the game. I thought it was strange when it happened but didn't think about it again until I read the ESPN article. What was that interaction all about? My first instinct was they just ran into each other in the commotion and awkwardly paused to avoid further contact. But it was the lack of friendliness (no smile) that made you wonder if there was an issue.

From the same article:

ESPN's Seth Greenberg said on "SportsCenter" that he spoke Monday with Ayers, who told Greenberg that "nothing happened" with Hurley. Greenberg, a former longtime college basketball coach, added that Ayers "literally didn't know what I was talking about" and said that the interaction with Hurley was "absolutely nothing."

A nothing burger people are trying to make a big deal out of because they hate Hurley and want to see him fail.

It wasn't a head butt and shouldn't be referred to that way. That just makes it click bait. It was incredibly loud in the arena after Braylon hit the shot, so maybe they just needed to be that close to hear each other.

I saw that. Pure clickbait. It didn’t actually make the claim but that was clearly the implication without anything to support it.

The Committee has got to be pretty twitchy right now about UConn. Put us in the toughest region with Tournament #1 seeded team. We come out of the region and make FF. Have had many of our adversarial referee buddies as part of our crews leading up to the FF. And now they continue to pile on with some of the same characters in the FF crews. Makes you wonder if Vegas has any input in these choices.

Just bumps in the road-Builds character. Survive and advance. Indy- Here we come. Against all odds

I always fall for the clickbait. Did you see Karaban's barstool interview where he mentioned that ref was "cool" and more personable than other refs and he was going to ask Hurley about it during practice? Sounded like he thought Hurley's tough guy facial expression was just a playful act in the moment with a ref he knew well would not take it the wrong way. Whatever it was the ref is saying it was nothing so best to believe him I guess without anything to think otherwise.

Usually that is done by leaning in cheek to cheek so you are talking right into their ear.

Thanks, that helps explain it better. Hurley wanted to chest butt him and had to settle for a forehead rub when he realized the ref was more professional than that. It's like going in for a kiss and trying to bail out at the last second to salvage your pride. Hilarious.

It's crazy how some people are still interpreting this after both Roger Ayers and Hurley explained it was absolutely nothing and it's known around college basketball Ayers is a great ref and Hurley is a big fan of his.

I sent all of this to my Illini, Kansas, and Kentucky buddies I'm in a text thread with for well over a decade. These are knowledgeable fans who root for UConn when it doesn't involve their teams. The Illini and Kansas fan said they don't buy any of what Ayers or Hurley are saying. It should've been a technical and if Brad Underwood does that against UConn on Saturday he's tossed out of the game.

It's a bit shocking that's their reaction.

How would it be a technical? He didn't touch him or say anything, he just glared at him.

There was no issue.

It certainly looked bizarre, but bottom line, this was much ado about nothing. If this is any other coach I am not sure this even breaks out on social media.

This situation vs the Marquette situation is night and day difference and to Hurley's credit in the interview with John Fanta after the Marquette game he admitted he was at fault for what he did and that John Gaffney was correct in that Ben Gould did not commit a foul.

Hurley Derangement Syndrome

Not sure how anyone at the NCAA thinks Breeding is a good ref who should be doing a Final Four. No Brian O'Connell so that's good

At least with no O'Connell we'll be spared the extra 20 minutes he'll spend looking at the monitor to see if he can find a .1 sec to put back on the clock when the game is already decide. I swear every game that clown refs is 3 hours long.

You need new friends.

The narrative that Hurley "headbutted an official" has been accepted as factual already......so the "retraction" story that it was "absolutely nothing" of the sort will be ignored. Much like with the regular news, the corrections are buried on page 37 and nobody reads them.
