I don't get it either. 38 votes for UConn and Marquette cracks the top 25. I really thought UConn would replace Marquette in the polls.

Do they even pay attention?
Did Marquette lose to Seton Hall and Colorado? I'm not saying you can't argue UConn shouldn't be ranked ahead of Marquette, but you can certainly also defend Marquette being ranked higher.

Yeah, patience please. This is irrelevant when next Monday's poll will be based on all teams being done with their conference tourneys but...

Seedings will be out for the tourney and only that will really matter to us.

Also this is not the final AP poll - that comes after the tourney and represents the most useless, captain obvious poll they can produce.

"Even their fans don't think they're very good" is a much more effective & widespread defense for those who doubt the Huskies.

Just win.
One game at a time.

And - not directed toward you BL - cheering for the Huskies is much more helpful than complaining about them, or "just being realistic."

Folks, if you want the Huskies to win, direct your energy toward cheering for them.

No but they did lose to UConn head to head. Twice.

Only Q3 and Q4 losses by teams above the Current NCAA Tournament Cutoff. Non-Conference loss marked with *. Which means SH loss is worst conference loss in the regular season.

I hate seeing our Huskies on this list...but have to admit that seeing BC on this list as a bad loss is pretty great!

When casual fans ask me where UConn is ranked I tell them rankings mean nothing when it's game time.

At tournament time every year though we hear about how important it is to finish strong.

UConn won 7 of its last 10 games while Marquette lost 6 of its last 10 games.

Two of UConn's 3 losses in its last ten games were to top ten St. John's and the other to unranked Seton Hall.

Two of Marquette's six losses in its last ten games were to unranked UConn and one to unranked Villanova.

UConn losing to Villanova, Creighton and Xavier by a combined 11points while McNeeley was out can't be dismissed either.

So is Durley finally gonna win AP coach of the year when UConn wins another championship? On a team that is apparently lacking talent to the eyes of the rest of the country?

My biggest gripe with the AP poll throughout this year but especially the last few is with the big ten. Bunch of mediocre teams just gaining points / barely falling from beating each other. The SEC at least somewhat deserves it, since they absolutely beat down the ACC. The ACC which despite the horrible talent in the league still garners more respect than the big east for the AP voters

God, that Seton Hall loss is such an anchor to our profile. Still pissed about it.

Agreed! Maui was Maui and everything was new. But that Hall and Nova games are killers. 24-7 sounds better than 22-9. Xavier was winnable as well. However, we’re playing better now.

Check this out, Jon Wilner. He thinks very highly of Marquette. Has them ranked #16. If you think that highly of Marquette, surely you rank UConn, say #25? At least? No. And the thing is, Wilner hasn't even been against UConn this year. He was ranking them pretty high until McNeeley was hurt.

I tend to think that a lot of these voters just stop paying attention.

Ziegler had Marquette at 14, Wilner 16, but 32 writers had them out of the top 25 hence only 127 pts.

The AP poll is a collection of biased or just looney writers....why we need to keep chugging one game at a time and stay in the BET longer than Marquette, and longer than Michigan and Texas A&M last in theirs.

We are all at 22-9 and those are 3 teams above us (for now).

It will all be determined on the court over the next several weeks

Win the next nine and everything else does not matter If not nine then win the last six.

So Marquette, who has an identical record to UConn, and has lost twice to UConn is ranked...not high, but hat seems a bit flawed...or what is with the Illinois love.
UofA is 20-11 and they are also ranked. Hence, I conclude that these Rankings are BS.

It’s about the entire resume at this point not the results from last week. Being ranked 30th is actually generous because it implies we should be a 6 seed when the bracketologists have us as an 8.
I think that an 8th seed would go to the 29th-32nd ranked teams.

Since Feb. 1

Marquette is 4-6 (lost to UConn 2x, St John’s 2x, Nova, & Creighton).

UConn is 7-3 ( lost to St John’s 2x & SH).

If we didn’t lost the SH game we would be too 20.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Xavier beats them. They’re playing very good basketball. 9-1 since Feb. 1 against mostly poor competition but do have a 22pt win over Creighton.

That's what they say. And yet, today is the anniversary of the day Gary McGhee's ankles were murdered. Which reminds me that not all championship teams finish the regular season strong.

It’s not even close, the Colorado game was first weeks of the season ( November) and the Hall game was a month ago and UConn more than made up for it this past Saturday, up by 40+ won by 30+. Head to head was and is always the best way to determine who’s better especially when the games were actually played on each teams actual home court and not on a neutral site like MSG which could be arguably considered an advantage for UConn.
