Field hockey preseason polls

The Big East has released its preseason field hockey poll, and UConn field hockey has been picked to finish first. Four UConn players were selected to the preseason team:

Casey Umstead
Charlotte Veitner
Barbara van den Hoogen
Nina Klein

Umstead was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year, and Veitner as the Offensive Player of the Year, with both also named as unanimous selections to the conference team.

By the way, last week UConn beat Syracuse 3-1 in a preseason game played at the neutral site of Albany.

Interesting. All non conference games for UConn are against ranked teams. The unranked teams on UConn's schedule are part of the conference schedule in the Big East.
