I’m surprised nobody else is on top of this. The US won their first 3 games in the FIBA 3x3 tournament in Marseille. Yesterday in the qualifying round the US beat Ireland 20-6 and Madrid 19-18. Now in pool play, the US just beat Poland 15-13. They play the Netherlands later today.

Sarah is playing well for a very young US team. All the games are available on YouTube.

Thank you!

Against Poland, with the game tied at 13, Sarah basically took over, scoring on a beautiful left-handed move in the lane and dishing out a big assist, while coming up huge on defense down the stretch with 2-steals, a tough rebound and a big deflection.

The US takes down a much bigger Dutch team 21-15. They have four 6’+ players who can all attack the basket off the dribble. Sarah was very good, and basically unstoppable in the paint. :)

The US comes out of pool play as the #1 seed from Pool B. Championship rounds tomorrow.

First USA win before the time runs out (extra points in the World Standings for that)! USA had to qualify with two wins to enter pool D, as the USA had not played in the 3x3 series as of the start of the Marseille stop.

Next game is the second quarterfinal match against Pool B 2nd place team at 12:45 EDT tomorrow (2nd match of the day, after 4 games today). Will find out whom the USA faces in that quarterfinal match, after the Australia Vs. Orleans (France) team which starts at 2:30 pm EDT this afternoon (early evening in France).

I really like the fact that the US team does not shoot many 3’s. The offense is basically dribble-handoff-attack the basket, or post up Sarah and feed the paint. The other teams are all more experienced. But they really have no answers defending against a bunch of tough, physical players attacking the basket.

Aus down 6-2 in first 2:15, so it is looking like Spain vs. USA in the Quarters...

Aus is just chucking up 2 pt shots (beyond the arc) for a very low %.

Orleans over Aus 19-13. Orleans #1 for pool B; Spain #2 in B and the opponent for USA in Quarters (2nd game).

Go USA! USA!! USA!!!

USA was the #11 seed coming in, and the #5, 6, & 7 are eliminated, with the 8 & 9 are playing next in the last elimination round, so USA should be moving up in the World rankings...

That includes the US’s Cierra Burdick who is both providing some experience for the 3 college kids and acting as their chaperone….;)
All four are performing well through four games! 3x3 is Burdick's style of game and Sarah is STRONG as expected!!!

Go USA! USA!! USA!!!

Great to see Sarah and kudos to the USA. But never was a big fan of 3x3. All skilled players but IMO much of it similar to impromptu, pick-up street ball. But I realize I might be in the minority. For those who like to watch, enjoy. However, looking at the level of physical contact just hope Sarah doesn't get hurt.

Go Sarah. Go USA.
