He's got a $18M buyout, this will be a fight

This is really stupid by the schools. Soon it is going to be impossible to fire someone for cause because the contracts are going to be written really tight going forward, and then when they really need to fire someone for cause they won't be able to do it.

you would think they'd make these contracts a bit more specific with this occurrence being so common; I get why they'd make it vague to a degree, but I don't know who that helps at this stage. It probably would get challenged and go through a drawn out legal battle when made so vague.

On Friar Talk they were writing about firing English with cause. I just shook my head reading it because it is becoming cliche for everytime a school and its fan base want to get rid of a coach.

This is dumb. The players are employees now and Tang's comments were entirely appropriate. Apparently KSU's administration does not view the NIL checks as any sort of new way of doing business.

If we lost against KO that is precedent for all these firings. This guy has nothing to worry about he’ll get his cash.

Well that was a fun week in college basketball, I imagine UConn moves up to five, this week.

I don't think Zona drops below UConn but probably will drop to 3rd or 4th. ISU should drop a spot behind UConn even after beating KU, that lose to TCU is going to weigh them down.

Every team from 7-11 lost this week.

There is a pretty clear #1 in UM then four teams pretty solidly 2-5 in Houston, Duke, Zona and UConn. Then ISU, then a pretty big crowd of teams.

I think they are independent contractors, but the point is the same.

This is so stupid. Why are you even posting this???
Why not? It is stupid, why I posted. The mentality of some of these Blue Blood hold on's is hysterical. Your team hasn't done a thing in 20+ years yet you want to hold onto triumphs from the 40's.

Key is not making these stupid hires/contracts in the first place. Who was Tang that they could have even written this into the contract? Guy has come off as a joker since day one, so you just cannot contract this kind of guy because of one fleeting Elite 8 run with a special player.

K State has NIL - they can get someone decent/proven.

That's awesome, and thank you for sharing your experience and videos!

Curious - so was that just a sectioned off area for grad students, where undergrad were on the other side of a rope? Or did they not make undergrads sleep out like that? It's my understanding if you attended UNC, and wanted to go to the Duke game, you best think ahead cuz you're going to be sleeping outside.
That was an entire 'campsite' for just grad students

It was a weekend event ... and if you completed all of the check-ins, you got the privilege of your name being entered in to the lottery (for a 25% chance at tickets)

The key is never making a mistake in a coaching hire. That 20/20 hindsight sure is useful.

He had zero HC experience prior. That alone says bad hire. I don't know why anyone goes that route. He won with Bruce Weber's players - goes to show you how that first year in with another coaches kids, does not mean you are a good coach (Ollie).

As far as I see it, 2014 was Calhoun's title.

Calhoun could not have won with that team. Ollie deserves the credit for that Championship.
