Bill Self has played it all wrong with him. The best thing he could've done is tell Peterson and his people to take a hike.
he knows the ceiling without him is limited, Council and White are nice players and they've endeared themselves to KU fans in their last year but realistically on a neutral floor those guys aren't leading you to anything.

I think our OOC resume value isn't going to appreciate at such a level that it really swings how it mpacts our seeding. We have a path, as does Houston. It's 1a and 1b for the 1 seed. We should handle all games other than @Nova and StJ, as they should other than the 3 against ISU, Kansas & AZ. How each team does there will determine who gets that 1.

We go 0-2 and they go 1-2, they probably get it. We go 1-1, they go 2-1, they probably get it. We own it right now, but by the slimmest of margins is how I see it. We go 2-0, as we should, we control destiny. Let's win out.

As for ISU, they feel like they are one ingredient away from being a champion. Something about their system seems to break down in spots, ala losing at a bad Cinci, along with track record in the tourney. Their big 3 issolid, but nothing that jumps out at me.
RR. Don't want you to worry. We hold serve at home and split one of the two away games. Nova game could be the catalyst to another crazy run.Floor is 5-1. Stay tuned.

BYU lost Saunders to a leg injury, they're basically a 3 man team as it is, if they lose him for an extended period they're cooked

Maybe next go they don’t put their entire NIL pot into two players and they spread the wealth a bit. That would include stealing one from a conference mate. It’s hard to feel bad for them.

At the end of the day, even if all this is true. A player is going to be highly motivated to at the very least want to get that max deal. Zion played every game he could at Duke and has shown at this level he clearly doesn’t love the game.

I don’t think you get as good and skilled as Peterson without loving the game of basketball.
I don't think Peterson gets to his level without loving the game either. He has clearly worked hard on his game. The question is does he love it enough after he gets the bag. Make no mistake about it, he will get these questions more than other draft picks during his pre draft interviews. The last thing a team wants is give him a big contract and have him be like Zion.
The way Peterson is choosing to play or not to, or maybe that his family and handlers deciding that I don't know, it raises flags for any NBA team looking at him. It should not be breaking news when he decides to play against Iowa State, a top 10 team.

Lee has a good amount of talent but has absolutely no feel for the game

It's a real tough call - you don't want to be that coach that loses out on future recruits because you told a top kid to take a hike. Their hypothetical ceiling with him out there is much higher. That said, their chemistry with him definitely seems off.
That's the big thing. That's why Self is somewhat defending Peterson in press conferences even if he does feel different, which I don't know if he does or doesn't. But if he tells Peterson to get the hell out or simply calls him out, opposing coaches in future recruiting battles with Self for top players will say, "I will always your back. Did you see how Self threw Peterson under bus? Do you really want to chose him and Kansas?"

I'm sure that's why but they're not going to do anything special with the Peterson drama. They've played their best ball without him.

Dude is an incredibly talented scorer but he's clearly a lousy teammate at Kansas and he isn't making his teammates better in the games.

Yeah, drab performance. I have this feeling all these games of top teams in the B12 will simply go to the home team.

UM runs over UCLA and makes it look easy. It feels like if all teams playing A game, Michigan is the team that has the highest ceiling.
Hmm…..so off AZ after a loss and back on Mich?? You are a fickle frontrunner.

What an angle - kid should be suspended for season/career:

In real time I saw that and gasped. In was a Mchale- Rambis type of foul and 100% dirty. I was rooting for Providence, too, but I hated that foul and Bryce Hopkins had every reason and justification for his anger.

Koa Peat out for the remainder of the game with an injury. On another note, I know the NBA is trying to phase out smaller guards, but Christian Anderson is way too good for that.

Not a massive drop off to this Awaka kid - he's a beast. Anderson can really shoot it.

This Krivas kid is about Clingan's size, but not nearly the player. Goes to show how athletic Donovan was for his size. It'll be interesting to see where the run on bigs go in this draft, kids like Mara & Krivas. The big from Duke has been a bust so far with Phoenix, doesn't even get off the bench.

More I watch AZ, the more I think they're a tick below Michigan. Michigan can shoot it better, and has a better bench.

TT could make some noise in the tourney - a little like BYU in that they have a core trio. Anytime I see LeJuan Watts I see future Colben Landrew.

I might die on this hill. But AZ is going to need to hit 3’s at a higher clip of they’re going to win the natty

I tend to agree - they have some shooters. It's not like Burries & Bradley can't hit them.

No. Not yet at least.

Agreed, but this moves them down into the same group as Duke, UConn and Houston. Michigan stands above right now.

If Peat is out, they aren't going to have it easy with BYU and then Houston on deck. This was their four game gauntlet and they are 0-2 so far.

Note: Michigan starts its gauntlet next week with it's next game with @ Purdue, Duke, Minnesota (obviously the easiest game during this stretch), @ Illinois

The Big East needs to step in here and suspend Hopkins for the remainder of the regular season AND the Big East tournament. That wasn't a foul so much as it was assault with intent to injure.

He's really lucky St. Johns did not involve the police, because that would not have been unprecedented.

I don’t care if awaka is as good as peat, doesn’t change the fact it’s still an enormous loss

Air hoodlum

Christian Hammond and Allen Graves from Santa Clara are going to be possible hot names in the transfer portal roulette this off season.
