Other than Anthony Bennett, Zion was the most predictable #1 pick bust in NBA draft history.
And the Anthony Bennett comparison is not fair because everyone knew Bennett sucked but it was such a terrible draft that year that the Cavaliers couldn’t move the #1 pick. No one wanted it.
There were “experts” who thought Zion would be good. But there were obvious problems. There have been two players built like Zion in NBA history that were all-star caliber. Larry Johnson was one. He was really good for a few years, and then he hit a wall physically, but toughed it out and was still productive. Charles Barkley was the other one, and he is just a freak of nature.
I don’t think Zion’s problem is passion, I think he has a build that is not conducive to NBA success.
