Not sure there is a great reason to leave, but he strikes me as an opportunistic kid. He had 4 BB's on his initial list, didn't end up with any of them. He's also not really much of an NBA profile, so my guess is he'd really look to land $$ in college.
What is your NBA profile for a point guard? You say neither Acaden Lewis or Silas has an NBA profile.

.-.
But he plays differently than just about anyone on the list.
Have you seen the interview with KD about little guards in the NBA today? How they are generally obsolete, unless they are intensely skilled at getting to the rim and outside shooting? Lewis looks nothing like an NBA prospect to me.

Brunson is also another great PG obviously.

Did you look at the list? There's a bunch of guys who are Silas and Acaden Lewis height.

I did - there are a lot of big PG's out there. We all know the NBA has moved away from the small traditional PG. Lewis and Silas would be mentioned already in NBA mocks if they were seen as prospects. Lewis is going to go wherever he gets top dollar.

There's also a lot of smaller point guards out there. Silas is taller than the league average point guard.

What height do you think Silas is? He doesn't play like a tall guard - he's build more like a football player. Again, as a junior, there would be draft chatter around him. There is nothing anywhere.

What height do you actually think Curry, Brunson, Maxey, Young, Fox, Suggs, Morant, Garland, Murray, White, Nembhard, Holiday, Poole, Quickly, Conley, Russell, VanVleet, Sheppard, Collier are?

How on earth does Silas not play like his listed height? He's a great defender, he rebounds well, he never has trouble getting his shot off.

First off, this conversation started with Lewis. He looks like a likely 4 year college kid to me, unless he decides to opt out for the second round at some point.

I will not argue Silas, he may have some mild NBA potential. There is certainly nothing swirling in the mock worlds. He doesn't look quick enough, or strong enough to the rim to be an NBA prospect to me. Nor big enough.

Both look like really good college players to me.

Lolz, in one post you're saying Silas is built more like a football player. So since you think he's stronger than a typical NBA point guard it must be a height issue for you. How tall, or in this case how short do you actually think Silas is?

He is - he's not a long athlete. He's a bulldog. I'm guessing he is 6'3" in seeing him standing next to guys like Mullins & Solo.

Do you want to make a bet that he's not drafted any earlier than mid 2nd round? Call it the 45th pick, if at all. What's his comp?

Not allowed to bet here. I have no idea where he will be drafted but I definitely think he'll play in the league. I think Acaden Lewis will too.

Lewis lists at 6'2". He's shooting 28% from three. I feel pretty darned good that he won't touch an NBA roster. G League does not count. We make it sound like getting to the NBA is easy. Most of these kids, if they truly are NBA players, establish that pretty early.

Tyler Kolek is on an NBA Roster.

Actually the Knicks have 3 pgs 6’2 and shorter(Brunson, Alvarado, Kolek). 4 if you add Deuce McBride who plays the 2.

.-.
How many years did Kolek play in college?
Why does that matter? You said and I quote, “ I feel pretty darned good that he won't touch an NBA roster. G League does not count. We make it sound like getting to the NBA is easy. Most of these kids, if they truly are NBA players, establish that pretty early”.

Kolek was at George Mason his freshman year.

I’d encourage you to look at NBA rosters. They aren’t filled with MCDAA one and done guys. More and more 2nd round picks and 4 year players are sticking than has been in the one and done era. Cam Spencer is a rotation player on Memphis. Tristen Newton is playing himself into a contract, he’ll be at all star weekend. Silas and Lewis absolutely have a good shot at making an NBA Roster one day.

Strawman arguments from Ruff Ruff. Lol.

If you trace back the POV, it started with whether Lewis might portal out in the offseason. It was mentioned by the Sleepers team. I brought it up, SJ asked why would he leave Nova. The argument started in that he is likely a 4 year college player that will want to maximize NIL, and chase whoever is getting him the most. He's already left one program (UK), for Nova after listing the Blue Bloods.

So rather than constantly slap the strawman thing, pay attention to the point of the argument.

Yes, those guys found their way into the NBA - but they didn't leave early. They were 4-5 year players. And in today's age, those kids look to maximize $$ as the NBA route is no guarantee, especially at his size. Sure there are some small guards up there, but they're an exception.

You said he wouldn’t be on an NBA roster. That’s what I responded to

I couldn’t care any less about the rest of the discussion.

You clarified a previously idiotic take. Thank You.

I don't think he will, but there is deeper context to why it was brought up that was more the point. It was an NBA profile in context of an early leaver/draft pick.

Lewis decommitted before ever going to Kentucky, it happens all the time. Same thing McNeeley and other UConn players have done in the past.

I asked why would he leave Nova and asked what is this NBA profile you keep talking about. I know you've said Silas doesn't have an NBA profile either so I asked what is this NBA profile.

So this NBA profile for point guards is about height and about leaving early?

I pointed out all the point guards on the list you linked of the top point guards in the NBA and more than half of them are Demary's height or shorter. You're still pretending short point guards are the exception. The average listed height of an NBA point guard 6'2.6 inches.
