Character, coachability and being the right fit for the culture is clearly important to the staff in addition to what they see watching games/film. Whenever the boneyard is sounding off about the staff not making an offer or going harder at a high level recruit, i get the sense one of those things wasnt adding up for them. It's remarkable how this staff finds a blend of high character and natural talent so often. I really liked the part where he admitted to not prioritizing basketball right away at Michigan, that obviously slowed down his development, and led to him being excited about Hurleys coaching style.
He also plays multiple instruments and didn't waste his education on something fake/useless. He's a smart guy, will be successful after basketball for sure.
Like this take Pal. Can the whole be significantly greater than the sum of the parts? You can be sure that Hurley and staff will be keeping the mirror in front of the players faces. Read the poem, "The Man in the Glass", applies to this team for sure.In many ways Reed is the perfect analogy for this team. They need to be pushed past their perceived limits to be successful. Hurley can only push them so far. At some point, they have to internalize it so it can come out on the court. The Huskies have to decide what kind of dog they want to be. House pet or attack dog.
