Montana St. won Friday night to advance to the semis. Villanova just won to also punch their ticket. 2 more games today--UC Davis vs. Illinois St. and Montana vs. South Dakota.

Last hurrah for Villanova?
Can’t imagine they’ll be as strong in the Patriot.

Villanova Tarleton game was fun to watch. Tarleton had a linebacker who was just vicious, loved him.

Montana is crushing South Dakota. Just went up 24-0. USD hasn't moved the ball AT ALL.

Why not? Lehigh was the #5 national seed out of the Patriot (before Villanova beat them in the second round), Chesney came out of Holy Cross from the Patriot (reaching the quarterfinals in 2022). The league offers the max number of scholarships and has for more than a decade at this point.

Lehigh was 5th and lost.

Conference rarely gets more than 1 team in, less than 1/2 time they get a first round bye, and rarely (ever?) win more than 1 game. No SF appearances.

The CAA is on the decline but Patriot isn’t better.

It's pretty weird watching a playoff game in Montana in mid December...and it's sunny and around 50. Usually snowing and about 10 degrees or less. Of course South Dakota wouldn't have been effected by that kind of weather, because they are used to it.

USD went on a scoring drive right before the half, but it did nothing to change the momentum. 31-7 starting Q4, and Montana is on the move again.

Weird TD for USD. Tackled, forward progress stopped, but he landed on top of the defender. Sure looked like the forearm was completely in contact w/ the ground. Whistle never blew, he jumped up and ran to the end zone. It was reviewed, call was upheld, but I don't think it should have been.

South Dakota made it interesting for a minute, got within 38-22. I think that made Montana mad, they tacked on 2 more touchdowns. 52-22 final and they get a rematch with Montana St. in one of the semis.

In the last game of the day, Illinois St. is in control against UC Davis.

With NDSU out, I’m all in with Montana.

Absolute dominant game. Michael Wortham is such a special player to watch.

I wasn't saying that it was better, but I also don't think that, that makes Villanova's situation any worse. They're not going to lose recruits because of the difference in conferences; guys aren't transferring because they aren't able to play in the CAA anymore. The Patriot League is fine having picked up Richmond & William & Mary as well as Villanova from the CAA.

Montana St. off to a good start against Montana.

ABC is really playing up this rivalry. I'm pretty sure nobody on ABC has ever mentioned it before today, but now they are all in.

Pretty cool, secondary market for tickets for this game is 3X more than any of the FBS playoff games. Looks like you almost have to pay people to go to the Oregon-JMU game

Montana St. w/ their 3rd touchdown early in Q2. All Montana has managed is a FG. This could get out of hand.

Montana got in the end zone, they needed that.

Both teams have blown an extra point attempt. 20-9.

Momentum has swung. Montana St. turnover. Montana scores again. 20-16 just before half. MSU will get the ball to start the 2nd half.

I love this playoff. These teams play fast, fun football. I wonder how we’d stack up to these two teams. I think we’d win, but they’d move the ball pretty well.

Montana has scored 20 straight after falling behind 20-3. Wortham was fairly bottled up in the 1st half but he's getting going now. Gillman is having a nice game for them.

Montana St. answers back with a sustained drive. 27-23, nearing end of Q3.

Jeez. MSU w/ 3rd and long backed up into their own territory...87 yard TD pass. I think 3 defenders took each other out after the initial catch around midfield. UM eventually caught up to Dowler but he cut back against the grain and walked into the end zone. 34-23. MSU back in control again.

Just about over now. MSU scored again.

This has been like 3 different games. MSU starts out 20-3. Then UM scores 20 straight. Now 21 straight for MSU. Momentum is fickle apparently.
