FCS playoffs

North Dakota St. edges South Dakota St. 28-21. Half of the championship match up has been set.

Got a shootout in Bozeman. Montana St. up 21-14 in Q2, both teams have been marching the ball down the field.

USD has a HUGE offensive line. Several dudes in the 6-7 6-8 range and well north of 300 lbs.

Montana St. got a stop, were knocking on the door at the end of the half but had to settle for a FG. 24-14.

It's almost 50 degrees today in Bozeman. That is not what you would expect in late December. Of course frigid weather was probably not gonna be a factor today with a team from South Dakota being used to it.

NDSU ends the SDSU run - I think Montana State will beat them in the title game.

Montana St. got a stop on 4th and long w/ UND in the red zone on the previous possession. Another 4th and long coming up, approaching 2 minutes left in the game. 31-17. Scoring slowed down for both teams in the 2nd half.

Bad day for the state of South Dakota in the FCS as both North Dakota State and Montana State won and will advance to the finals.

FINALLY get the Championship Game tonight, starting in less than half an hour. Don't like the long delay between semifinals and championship. Oh well. Montana St. may be favored, but until they go out and beat one of the top Missouri Valley teams on the field, let's just say I have some reservations. Definitely pulling for the Bobcats though.

edit--okay they did just beat North Dakota; I was thinking they have to take down either North Dakota St. or South Dakota St.

I'm watching! Go Bison!

My in-laws are thrilled NDSU is not playing SDSU (their biggest rival), so there isn't that same heated hatred tonight as the last few years. They have a lot of respect for Montana State, they also lived in Montana for 20 years.

What was I saying? 14-0 Bizon still in Q1. That last play...what? 3rd and 4 around the 40, the offensive line was spread out, snap to the QB, holy parting of the Red Sea. Ran all the way to the end zone without a single defender ever getting close to him. Easiest 60 yard TD scamper I've ever seen. What in the world was the Montana St. defense doing?

Watching the replay...seriously is Montana St. throwing the game? The LBs and safeties were just nowhere to be found anywhere in the middle of the field for 60 yards. Bizarre.

Just watched the replay of the Montana St SDSU game and watching live now. Is it me or does Montana St seem overly cocky and somewhat dirty. They seem to be taunting on every play and throwing all kinds of elbows on tackles. Kinda happy to see them go down 14 in no time at all.

Montana State is playing better. Mellott is tough and they're undefeated for a reason. They aren't going to let NDSU run away.

They've recovered after the initial onslaught, but aren't putting points on the board.

Yeah...if NDSU makes this 21-3 right before the half, I'm thinking it's over. MSU failed on 4th and 5 around midfield and it's totally gonna bite them in the backside.

Um...don't listen to me! Montana St. rolling now, have closed it to 21-18 in a hurry.

Nice run by Tommy Mellot. The guy just seems so happy to be playing football. He was practically skipping after their last TD.

Stick a fork in the Cats.

I'm fine with either team winning, I'm just glad to see a good, back and forth game after such a one sided first half.

That will probably do it. Ended up a lot closer than I expected, but that TD right before halftime really was a killer.

Got a score, but that took a long time. Mellot wasted a lot of clock on scramble plays.

What? No return man so the clock runs out while the ball is dribbling around. If you are gonna go all out to block a punt, you better get there. I think that's a tremendously boneheaded call by the Montana St. brain trust.

A few questionable calls from Vigen down the stretch. I for sure would have kicked the field goal on that fourth down -- they got the TD, it worked out, but they were down 10. Take the 3!

And I get they thought their best chance was a blocked kick, but they gave themselves no chance by having no return man on that punt. Terrible decision IMHO.

Great game, though. Love the FCS playoffs and can't wait for Maine to win it all next year, lol.
