-> Under the recommendation, undergraduate and postgraduate FBS student-athletes could enter the Transfer Portal between Jan. 2-11.

This 10-day notification-of-transfer window would replace the current structure, in which football student-athletes may initiate notification during a 20-day period in December and a 10-day period in April.

Another part of the recommendation would make the entire month of December a recruiting dead period (in which coaches can call, write, text or email prospects and their families but no on- or off-campus recruiting contacts or evaluations may occur).

Jan. 5-31 would remain a recruiting period, when coaches can have contact with or evaluate prospects. <-

Only in college football. I can not wait for the first guy to enter the portal with his team in the CFP. It will happen eventually. Though I get they want players to enroll in their new school for second semester. At UConn that is around January 20. I’d guess that is fairly common. So generally a short window until January 12-15 ish would work for us and probably lots of schools. Then have a summer portal end of spring semester to June 1 or so.

Players are going to sue. Imagine a QB doesn't win the starting job after Spring ball and he's not allowed to transfer until after the next season?

This is so simple.

Open the portal the Wednesday after the CFP and close it at end of January.

I think transfers won't have any issues with theor academics being interrupted early on spring semester and I bet their transcripts are cleared no problem. /s

I would imagine coaches will say they don’t have a clear leader at the end of spring ball…to string them along and hope all qbs stay. That is…unless they realize that a qb doesn’t have value to even be a back-up.

The portal isn't inherently the problem, nor is NIL. The problem is kids are allowed to transfer as many times as they want without consquences and NIL money is just the school paying players which disproportionately helps the big donor schools. I thought the whole purpose for for them to be able to make money of their name, image and likeness not the school just pay you to use their NIL.
