..sigh.. Like a moth to a flame.....
The Doobie Brothers have been mentioned previously, they put forth a ton of great music.
They got a lot of play on my many drives between CT & Ft Meade.
A couple of my choices for best intros:
This one got a lot of play - Without You - probably one of their 'harder' sounding tunes.

More English early prog, a song that‘s so beautiful it brings tears to my eyes sometimes. (Robin Trower’s first band, although he lays out on this cut.)

Let’s go for a trifecta of English prog, this one a few years later. I love the combination of xylophone, Moog, and guitar in the intro.

The Moodies always had good intros for the first tracks on their albums. This is a pretty short one, followed by one of my favorite songs of theirs:
