I love the John Bush led Anthrax years. Here's a cover of Ball of Confusion.

Garth Brooks Cover of a Kiss' Hard Luck Woman. Also like his cover of Billy Joel's Shamless (more than Joel's version)
Hard Luck Woman - Kiss/Garth Brooks - Kiss My Ass 1994

I like every version of "Don't Dream It's Over" that I've heard.
I've hated every version of "Helter Skelter" I've heard, and some of my favorite artists have done it including my favorite U2.

And of course one of the greatest covers of one of the greatest songs

I am surprised most of this thread isn't made up of Hendrix covers. He had to be one of the best at covering songs.

This is a partial cover, Zac Brown integrating Into the Mystic into their song Free.

(re: Lovemongers, "Battle of Evermore")

There's this band from the Pacific NW, who, if they weren't big enough on their own to make the RnRHoF, they might've carved out a nice living as a Zep cover act...

This is an incredible reading of a totally fantastic fairly "current" song.

Im not kidding about either, despite the clown schtick. And Royals is one of the best pop songs to come down the pike in the last decade.

I prefer this to the original, love the arrangement and the jazz chord substitutions employed, but I am a fan of Lordes original version as well.

There are some classic covers but for some reason I always loved this cover of Wish You Were Here by Sparklehorse from the movie Lords of Dogtown.

Also loved (in addition to those already mentioned):

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Higher Ground
Pearl Jam - Last Kiss
White Stripes - Jolene
Alien Ant Farm - Smooth Criminal

One of the greatest American songs ever written, in my humble opinion. Every version of it is great. The Kinks and Mel Tucker both do great covers of this as well.

God bless the internet.

Not a big fan of the original. It's an OK song, but IMHO, Lorde just doesn't have the presence to carry a minimalist accompaniment.

Have to say I wasn't expecting to see Pagliacci in this thread.

I dont entirely disagree with her carrying that type of arrangement, but it is very well written song melodically and especially lyrically (for these times) and when you compare it to the schlock on the charts of the last decade it really stands out.
