Favorite Somewhat Obscure Husky

Who is/was your favorite obscure Husky? Mine was Alvin “Skinner” Frederick. I had a cat named Skinner who used to hide from me in Skip Prosser’s bushes when Skip lived two houses away from me in Cincinnati. I guess you could tie in did you have a favorite pet named after a Husky as well.

Tim Coles.

Loved how a 6'6" muscle bound kid could go toe to toe with the big of the Big East.

As a sophomore, he had 2 games against Patrick Ewing, and in the first he had 19 points and 12 rebounds, and in the second game, 18 points and 5 rebounds.

He put up 16 and 15 against Otis Thorpe that year.

He was a double double machine his senior year.

The only comparison for him that I can think of was Jeff Adrien.

I don’t know how obscure you mean. I’m defining this as those not brought up quickly among all the Husky mentioned when fans remember past teams. Rod Sellers is one of my favorites. Everyone cites the Laettner play (which was awesome) but besides that he was a tough blue collar center. A low scoring guy who held down the fort defensively against some top notch big men. He was recommended to Calhoun by a coach in South Carolina looking out for him as there was very little interest by the big programs. I’m hoping the guys this year can do the job he did defensively.

My friend from RI would take me to his HS games, so I was excited when he committed. First recruit I actively watched before he got to UConn.

I was there when Antric was there. He was a good dude. Without a doubt one of the friendlier players on the team.

I also remember all of sudden Timmy’s senior year started hitting foul shots and keeping us in games.

My first favorite obscure UConn player was definitely Souleymane Wane. I freakin' loved the guy's energy.

I'm the only member of my family who's never lived in Stamford, so having Craig Austrie at UConn while I was there was a lot of fun too. Sami Ameziane was my favorite walk-on while I was in college.

My favorite random transfer: RJ Evans.

Right after my graduated, I loved Charles Okwandu. I mean, this is my favorite interview clip of all time.

Skinner was an awesome dude, I used to give him.rides home to Stamford. But #24 Larry Blucher is the all time favorite, left before his senior year to go on Grateful Dead tour. But he hit a shot to beat the Cuse at the HCC In 1983. Soft hands. Heard he's now a trophy husband somewhere in Fairfield County...

My great niece who lived a couple of miles from Gilbert HS . was a cheerleader for their arch rival when he went there.
You need a 150 IQ yo figure out AZ school district’s.
2. He was completely disrespected even by his head HS coach who was shocked UConn recruited him .
3. Although he wasn’t the most talented guy he overachieved both at UConn where is was a rotation player on an FF team and afterwards. He even represented Japan in the Olympics

Dude looked more like he should try out for WWE than hoops. I always imagined he had horrible back hair but had someone Nair it off. His rap skills were legendary. He was like having a linebacker on the court.
