No, that's the one. First fine dining restaurant I've ever been to, celebratory family dinner and it ended with the cops running into the restaurant and my dad almost killing a guy.

Businessmen at the table next to us were checking out the pretty girl at the other table....When the guy and his pretty girlfriend paid their bill the guy nonchalantly walked over to the table of businessmen and dumped the entire table on them, food and wine all over them....

We were shocked and commenting how all the guys are covered in wine and what a psycho that guy is. As this is going on, my dad looks down and notices a few drops of wine on his dress slacks and says, "forget about them, I'm covered in ******* wine" and he leaps from the table runs down the stairs pushes the businessmen aside and has the table thrower jacked up against the wall by his neck. My mom doesn't know what to do other than say please make sure your father doesn't kill the guy. My brother is already up and running before she finishes what she's saying.

Now it's my brother and a couple of the businessmen trying to get my dad off of table thrower as the whole restaurant looks on....finally the cops show up and order is restored.

I'ts apparently one of the best restaurant towns but that's my only memorable experience.
Lmao wow what a story!

House of Nanking at 919 Kearney Street. So good that I have had lunch and dinner there the same day on more than one occasion. Quirky place, but the food is (was?) tremendously good.

I went there so often while in San Fran on business that the owner thought I still lived out there despite moving back to CT.

Funny. Was there many times as both tourist and resident. Loved it. Haven’t been in this century though.

We tried to get in there but it's impossible to get a reservation. They start reserving tables 28 days in advance and within hours of the date 28 days out the tables were all gone except 5:00 and 9:00.

Nobody goes there anymore... it's too crowded...
People go there, but it's really over-rated. They opened a pizzeria on Valencia and 18th, and it is also over-run.
But as other locals will point out, you are in the Mission district, why are you going to any place other than El Faro?
For Italian food, Barbacco is easier to get reservations for and is, IMO, much better. Perbacco is next door and they are pretty good, as is the Tadich Grill, the oldest restaurant in EssEff.

Out of the tourist areas (and in my neighborhood) is La Cicca a Sardinian restaurant that is interesting, Eric's which is some really good Chinese, and Uma Casa, a Portuguese restaurant.

Oh and Bob's Donuts SUCKS! Happy Donuts or no donuts at all. (F%^&*() Hipsters and their bacon maple donuts)

San Francisco food has been dead to me since Thirsty Bear took the fish cheeks tapas off the menu.

Bix. A bit pricey but really good in my experience with a cool ambiance and little hard to find. Jackson Square area. Close to most things. Closed a few business deals there.

If you want to spend a bunch of money, go to the Waterbar.

I've never eaten there but there is no place on Fisherman's Wharf I'd eat at. That place is as cheesy as they come.

I love eating outside on the wharf with some good beers as the mist rolls in on a cool day. Admittedly, it isn’t always great food but the scene is A+

Where did you go tonight? The suspense, it kills...
Haha sorry I forgot to update. The group I was with was feeling paella so we went to Bellota Thursday night and then Liholiho for an early dinner Friday (their reservations were insane). I loved both. The G&T bar at Bellota was insane, too. H/t @3for3 for planning my meals for my last two days there.

Also for lunch I grabbed a burrito from El Farolito, which I was recommended for a Mission burrito spot. That thing had me comatose for a while afterwards.

Didn’t get to try any pizza, which I know is a sin around here. Next time I’ll have to.
