We’re not competing with Texas Tech and Co, which are among the best funded P4s. We’re competing with other G6 programs, and we’re on the upper end.

The good news is next year schedule does not appear to have any football powers on the schedule. Just like this year, we just need to out recruit the teams on our schedule.

Yards allowed per game: 617.4,
Total yards: 7409
Points allowed per game: 50.42 (almost there yesterday)
Total points: 605

UConn defense wraps up historically bad season

UConn's defense on Saturday earned an unwelcome distinction when it set FBS single-season records for points allowed (605) and yards allowed (7,409).

Overall, this defense is not in the same stratosphere as that historically bad D. But, to put yesterday's D performance into perspective, the 687 total yards we gave up to FAU would've ranked 2nd most in that 2018 season

Agree with all your points. I'm also thinking about the potential recruiting/portal impact of having a UConn Husky invited to the Heisman ceremony.

I'm curious how frequently programs rotate defensive players in and out and if UConn players are playing more minutes on average. Many comments are about our players being gassed which contributes to giving up big plays.

I get some players want to play on the best teams even if they don't play much but there's a lot to be said for coming to UConn and putting up big numbers, as we have seen this year.

I don't like all this speculation because I don't see any smoke but many very good coaches have moved up to dream jobs only to fail, which is a relative term. I just looked up Charlie Strong - that dude literally gets a new job every year. I don't know if he gets fired but he certainly gathers no moss.

The good teams in the SEC and BIG10 are at least 2 deep (3 deep in some cases) in the DLine. You need to rotate your DLine to keep them from getting gassed.

It is a closely guarded secret and I'm as curious as anyone to know the number, but what's important is that they signed the reigning AAC DPOY, that it hasn't worked with that player is irrelevant. The got a DL from Nebraska. They kept players like Bell and Cam.

In addition UConn stated they would be paying like 18.5 million in revenue sharing. Also important is they seem to have systems in place finally where players can shine. 1st time ever with 3k yd passer, 1k yd rusher, and 1k yd receiver. Things are looking up.

The way I looked at it we spent a significant amount to retain our offensive players and it paid off having a great offense. The bad was I think there was little money left over to go after defensive players especially DLine who are expensive to obtain.

That Richard Kent guy on twitter says $3.5M this season. I asked him a question and he basically agreed that $1.5M last season was "accurate".

There has to be a balance between developing players and acquiring players at a school like UConn. You need guys like Cam Edwards and John Neider in addition to guys Skyler Bell and Raymello Murphy.

The issue is when those players develop into good players you will then have to pay them more. That is the current environment of FBS with the transfer portal. You have to maximize the limited resources you have.

No one is expecting perfection. Is it too much to ask to keep a 3 win team under 600 totals yards of offense? That’s not a huge request. Mediocre would have been sufficient yesterday. Thank goodness our Offense got it done. With a mediocre D we might have a better record.

That is why you play only one QB all year long if you can. I am guessing that next year's QB has been in the barn all year but no one knows what UConn has because they haven't played. Having been hidden all year, they have limited marketability now. So let's see who shines this spring and who they bring in (if anybody).

All the games were close except for a few games. Hard to give backup reps.
