Fairfield Little League World Series | The Boneyard

Fairfield Little League World Series

Fun team - represents the Italian American’s of CT well. Their ace/SS is a stud, game ending DP was a thing of beauty for a 12 year old in how he skimmed the bag with his toe and flipped it to first. Credit that game to great fundamentals and two amazing relays from the OF, game changing.

Buddy’s and I were discussing how Hawaii always has such good teams (4 titles since 2005) yet very little MLB players. Maybe spam accelerates puberty?

Don’t wish summer away.
Only if you live in Florida right now until the middle of October all you want to see is Halloween. I kind of hate it that the stores already have Halloween merch out but for me it a bit of a pick me up. 60 days left until we lose some of the heat and don’t have to have an eye out for what’s coming off the west coast of Africa.

In Florida now until tomorrow - yeah August here usually 1-2 days heat advisory - been 11 so far. Stores have Halloween costumes now because it's the next holiday worth stores buying and selling. Labor Day has nada for them, just back to school stuff but most are now here. Once it passed Halloween, it's Christmas since Thanksgiving is (for now) the least monetized holiday and it's my favorite - we open our doors and sometimes get 40+ people in Jersey City. Glad it's a holiday with no real obligations, just come, bring something to eat or just your appetite.

You really have to live here to get the Florida summer dread. It is just 90 days of the exact same weather everyday. Throw in one, two or more tropical depressions and mix thoroughly and you start to get human depression.

So you dream about November. My dad had it right retired early from Pratt moved to Florida but bought an RV and spent his summers in New Hampshire or Maine. He also told me if I ever move to Florida don’t move further south than Daytona. He was right about that as well.

We bought in Ormond Beach which is ~20 min north of Daytona - always storms miss us and easy drive up to St. Augustine for their Christmas fun and Jet Blue is adding direct flight from JFK to Daytona which helps as a little tired of the AA flight connection to Charlotte or Delta to Atlanta.

This Fairfield team has been exciting to watch. Setup good make this even more exciting with SJ going Wednesday and Luca available for USA championship game. Luca goes to travel program Grind out of Orange, CT. My son has been part of program since 10U and played 14U this last season. I'll be leaving work early tomorrow to watch the boys at 3pm.

Don’t wish away fall either.

did not understand the announcer's explanation of getting the ball to the pitcher

I thought he said the pitcher can call time when he has the ball. The outfielder had the right idea when he chased the runner back to first on one play, but I think the runner somehow ended on 2nd base anyway. Maybe they were too worried about the runner on 3rd.

Think the pitcher needs to have the ball on the mound before the ump will call time. The kids were running the ball to first base and trying to do the same thing and the umpire wasn't granting them the time out.

Couple years ago my nephew was in little league and if a kid hit one to the outfield, the outfield would throw the ball to second as fast as they could and immediately call timeout. For some reason the umpire granted it and the coaches were losing their minds because they had runners in the middle of the base paths and would make them go back to third or second.

Fairfield was just taking of the advantage that SD never practiced getting a kid in a rundown with a man on 3rd and they were trying to get the kid between first and second to buy enough time to let the kid from 3rd score. I've never seen it work that many times in a row though without getting your runner tagged out or getting the person at home thrown out or scoring. You need to get one of the two. Feels like it would have saved them like 5 runs lol. SD's coach looked like he was ready to have steam come out of his ears.

They have some swag for sure - the Greek twins bring real moxy, and this team def leads the LLWS in “F#%%s” on stuff that doesn’t go their way. Meanwhile all these other squads are choir boys. It’s pretty funny when you see the lineup of most of these middle American teams where all the players have the names of country singers and Ffld brings the Dante Medara’s and Luca Pellagrina’s in like they’re straight out of a Mario Puzo novel.

South Dakota had a great name - Maxen Snoozy. Solid.
