Facey Update?

Those ornaments colors are a joke and that's on Kyle Muncy since he has to approve any products with the UConn marks on it...Asolutely a joke..I agree with upstater, the red would have been great to use as an accent color..Whatever happened to our colors being blue, white, with some red accents as all the uniforms have these colors in them....Could the marketing of even X-mas ornaments be that bad..
Really? Really? Seriously? They are fun-hating Xmas ornaments. How can someone possibly have such strong opinions on Xmas tree ornaments.

Uuonn prob treading carefully and not rushing the ncaa...so maybe they simply forgot about the issue and noone is bringing it to their attention...its like your car being fixed they could sit on it for days or even weeks unless you give them a call to say wtf...the idea about twitter though is a good idea tweet the ncaa

I remember reading something a week or two ago saying that UConn and Facey were preparing some paperwork to send to the NCAA for review. I meant to copy/paste at the time, but was on my phone then just forgot to altogether.

.-.
Can't we send Facey to some non-existent classes like UNC athletes, so that he can be cleared to play in a week?

Let's examine:

Cam Newton was cleared in, what, twelve hours?

Johnny Manziel cleared in six?

It took until the Army game to clear Charlie Villanueva.

Ryan Boatright had to be cleared twice, each time costing him and us multiple games, including a homecoming game of sorts vs. Notre Dame in the interim.

Using my algebra skills, and determining the equation of Facey + UConn / suspension = X, with X serving as the date he will be cleared, I have determined his eligibility date to be "sometime after the college football season ends and the NCAA can turn their attention to basketball for two months."

Syracuse actually has an incoming freshman who didn't have the grades to graduate and play at all this year. He took classes in August and was cleared by the NCAA in early September.

August classes!!!!!

This is much more involved... it requires the NCAA to say to the world that a 14-15yo Jamaican is academically equal to an 18yo American HS graduate.

You're missing a key part of your equation: perceived skill (or in the NCAA's case, perceived revenue opportunity).

In Facey's case, I think that's a multiplying factor of at least 5.

He'll likely never see the court.

Maybe he can continue to take real classes at UConn, and some additional fake online classes at UNC. That would probably do the trick?

Did he originally get deemed ineligible and UConn then submitted a waiver, which we're now waiting to hear back on?

based on the wording in this CT Post article it seems that way

Facey continues to practice with the team while the NCAA ponders his status for this season. The NCAA is questioning whether Facey's college eligibility started early while he was attending high school in Jamaica.
"We are waiting for his status, his status came back and we are going to put in a waiver," Ollie said. "We just don't know when the waiver is going to be over or they are going to say he can play. We don't know. That's a process up to the NCAA and we just did our part and then we wait for the NCAA to come back with their judgement."

Is there really no recourse for the Athletic Department or University against the NCAA? Are we forced to let the NCAA flex its muscle, publicly grab us by the balls, and humiliate us once again?

If I were in the AD's office I'd be burning up the phone lines with the NCAA until we get a resolution. There's no need to kowtow to them, like Warde did by making Ollie's extension contingent on academic performance (which granted undue legitimacy to the BS APR sanctions imposed on us). This situation with Facey has been dragged out for 10 weeks at this point, with no urgency whatsoever to render a decision before the season starts and games are missed. Our leadership needs to stand up for us here.

UConn leadership needs to stand up for Kentan Facey, not "us". But I'm not sure what else they can do but wait, I don't know enough about the process other than that it is a complete joke.

Did Jay Bilas and his other media member get the NCAA to act with a few other recent NCAA eligibility issue. We need to get the national media on our side on this one. Someone ask them if the NCAA is trying to stick it to us again. Now we are getting punished becuase the kid is too smart. Like the NCAA was really going to let the kid play for us if he was 15 after he took his exit exam at his high school.

We need to start the campain now, or he won't be cleared until the second semester and then they will also lop off another year, giving him only 2 1/2 years.

Sounded like the staff was optimistic about a month ago, but now it's very quiet. Looks like they are waiting to hear on a waiver they submitted recently. Based on what I've read, Facey had to start as a junior at high school based on credits he had in Jamacia. I don't know that he could have done anything differently.

.-.
The NCAA was waiting for first night to happen before declaring him ineligible. They wanted our excitement to build and then they are going to crush us again...

i really feel bad for this kid. when was the last time a kid was punished for doing too good in school?

You cant burn up the ncaa phones and demand quicker action. If you do that they will say fine you want a answer...hes inelligable. Cant get on their bad side

Ya I think Wise2 has the right idea a few posts up. We have to "Vietnam War" this Facey issue, and get the media (aka public opinion) to force a reasonable decision from the NC2A...in a timely matter...

My guess is the NCAA will eventually claim that this kid is too smart for college and penalize us three scholarships for admitting him.

.-.
the way I see it, the ncaa owes us one for the post season ban BS, I think facey will be cleared.

My prediction is they take a year on the back end and let him play this year.
