Football talk starts @ 7:20 mark
Said there was some “fine” and “great” football out there last home game.

Obviously a lie. You can notice his tell is that he rubs his nose when he lies. Did it again later in the interview when talking student athlete academic standards.

I know Dennis couldn’t really get into performance on the field, but you throw a softball about the crowd?

Admits he would rather have stadium @ the “mothership”

Doesn't like losing all of the time, or winning all of the time. Wants a competative team that goes bowling to maximize the experience for the student athletes. So, Mr. Prez, how do you propose to attain that result?

Well, it’s nice to hear he wants to win and play in bowl games. He didn’t need to mention bowls if he wanted to shut her down or drop to FCS.

Agreed, this is good news and should end all of the ultra idiotic posts about this being the last season. Some of those Boneyard trolls should have their accounts turned off.

There was some great and fine football last home game - sadly it was played by the visiting team.

What I learned is the top priority is aligning with the Governor’s budget, giving away more dollars to low income family students because god forbid they take student loans like the rest of us and pay them back when working, and more diversity (whatever that means anymore). Oh, and 17-20 year old kids want to go back to the BigEast and relive the 1990 and 2000s (prebirth and nursery school), and that’s why the moved. Note to President,When you lie don’t touch your face.

UConn is not dismantling football and this puts it to the end of the discussion at least with the normal fans, the other ones will still run with it

When you hear "diversity" is a goal, prepare to take a step back as an institution.
Yup, love when attracting the best and brightest means not the best and brightest because to have the best and brightest requires not the best and brightest. Imagine if they applied diversity rules to basketball. The genetically underprivileged diversity requirement. Sorry you need a bunch of slow 5’10” guys because they didn’t have a chance to be good because of systemic bias by coaches looking for gifted tall kids.

Being someone who added "diversity" to the student body, that is quite a bigoted thing to say. Please stay in Texas.
all it means is that the university is considering additional criteria beyond academic ability. How is that bigoted?

Not a big deal, but someone really needs to dress this guy.

Free tuition for families earning under $50K. It will be paid for by adding another $100M to the school's endowment. Wow, that's so simple, of course that means increasing our endowment by by 25% but that really shouldn't be a problem. Oh and it assumes that students under $50k will remain the same % as we have now. Hmm, you don't think offering free tuition will make the school more attractive to applicants in that economic bracket? I'm all for giving low income families a break, but this seems very poorly thought out.

Oh and I love the idiot talking head. If you had it to do over again would you put the Rent in Hartford, rather than East Hartford? Really?

Lol, on the tell of touching his nose.

And we can’t have age discrimination. I’m 57 and want to play football.

The admissions officers are not stupid. You aware of many sociological and financial differences here in this country being based on ethnicity?

Heck...this diversity thing has been institutionalized in the NCAA tournament...

Some AQ teams just are not as good as at large teams left out...Some AQ's play in the tournament, not based on merit, but so we can have diversity...We don't shut you out because you are a little guy, even if you aren't really good.

That makes the tournament fun and why it’s so popular. Been that way since the 80’s.

NCAA football could learn from it but aren’t interested in opening up the club.

Football ain't basketball....you play a 12 game regular season...playing a CCG may give you 13 games...adding an additional six games (half a season) that a basketball type tourney would take just isn't doable.

Nothing I've seen tells me that the Sun Belt Champ and the SEC champ should play each other.

You have no vision. Open up the the football cartel you open up recruiting. I agree it won’t happen but thats how it can happen. Open up the opportunity and the recruitment landscape changes overtime.

Most of the current bowl games are a joke. So that would need to change. The only thing stopping it is the cartel and we all know it
