No way this works
It will be challenged, but something needs to be done, and at least he is looking at it. I know it is the NCAA pushing it along with some AD's across the country![]()
Executive order aims to limit NCAA athletes to 5 years, 1 transfer
An executive order signed by President Donald Trump on Friday limits NCAA athletes to a five-year playing window and how often they can transfer between schools.www.espn.com
Something has to be done, I'm not sure what, nor am I paid to figure out what, but something. Not sure if this is it. But , something needs to make college ball make sense again and less crazy.
Conversation starter? Do you listen to sports talk radiio? This is not a new idea.
1) Executive orders are memos. They dont mean hooey.
2) The last thing we want is these people messing with college athletics. They dont know what they are doing when it comes to the stuff they ARE supposed to know about.
Well saidTerrible to target Karaban like that
No jurisdiction whatsoever. Really pointless, although it's something while the people who are supposed to be dealing with it - aren't![]()

This should read "Executive order aims to limit young people from making life-changing (and/or generational) wealth" ... we need to get back to holding the people that generate millions and billions for others (not to mention 30 year TV ratings highs) hostage!
Some folks used to preach they should stay in school ... well, now they are, and the same folks don't like that either, lol ... that's all it's about imho, control, in so many obvious ways
What is the point of limiting transfers?
... otherwise why stop with athletes, let's limit general students to 5 years too; after that, they can't use the library, participate in intramurals, or use any facilities
I wasn't talking about the commissioners. The commissioners of the leagues are not familiar with the problems of their leagues. Wow, amazing analysis.
Just be happy someone is trying to address the chaos in college sports. The NCAA has done squat on their own.
Why?I agree with 1 transfer without penalty, the 2nd should have to sit out a year.
This is a perfect example of why some folks wanna 'go back' to when they owned the athlete ... they can't be having this kinda stuff, lol
21-Year-Old UNC Athlete Seth Trimble Used His NIL Earnings To Become The Youngest Ben & Jerry’s Franchise Owner
These record-setting numbers should not surprise fans that were not buying the whole "NIL will ruin college athletics" narrative that some were pushing over the past few years. If anything, we are seeing an increase of fans tuning in to watch the product.

NCAA Tournament TV Ratings Shatter Records, Proving NIL And Portal Didn’t Kill Interest In College Sports
March Madness delivers record TV ratings, with average 19.7M viewers in a historic window, proving college basketball is thriving despite NIL and transfer portal concerns.www.outkick.com
I still do not think this is within the power of the executive branch. It's legislative in nature. Congress can absolutely do this, and they should (or something similar). NCAA could try to do this, but they've lost in court so often that they don't want to without backing from Congress. You'd think Congress, which is incredibly unpopular, would see this as low hanging fruit to get something done that people would actually like. It's utterly non-political.It attaches government funding for the school to following these guidelines. It’s “technically” forcing the school to do something, not the player. But literally every take I’ve read is this has next to no chance of sticking.
I like to imagine that this is how that franchise purchase evolved. A friend of Sean's was going out for ice cream and he asked,This is a perfect example of why some folks wanna 'go back' to when they owned the athlete ... they can't be having this kinda stuff, lol

Why? I signed a contract to perform a certain job for a certain organization. Shortly after signing the CEO announced he was taking a new job. The company still expects me to perform. Why is getting paid to play basketball different? There will have to be exceptions if a coach moves and a couple of others. But this is a very reasonable proposal from which to proceed.
Contract? ... what in the world of learned-subservience is this? ... lolWhy? I signed a contract to perform a certain job for a certain organization. Shortly after signing the CEO announced he was taking a new job. The company still expects me to perform.
I read another article on him, and it said he liked B&J so much, he figured he'd buy a franchise so he can have free ice creamI like to imagine that this is how that franchise purchase evolved. A friend of Sean's was going out for ice cream and he asked,
"Hey Sean, do you want a Ben & Jerry's?"
And Sean answered,
"Yes, yes, I do"
I'm not sure if buying a franchise is the right thing to do for a young student athlete, but this is what you hope they do with the money, invest in their futures.
