Evina lost her longtime coach this season

This is from the bleacher report article that was linked in another thread. I knew something was up with Evina, but I had no idea it was this.

In mid-to-late January, her former coach died. She had known this person since she was four years old and didn't know how to deal with their death. She tried to push it down and be there for her team, but she realized that she needed to let them be there for her. They would give her unprompted hugs and show her love without saying it. They would say, "We know you don't want to talk about it, but we're here for you even if you want to."

That explains some of the lack of focus. Tough for kids to deal with deaths of people they are close to. Glad the team stepped up.

Thanks for re-posting this. I missed it too. Great article with insights incorporated into a recap of the past year. Made me want to give everyone on the team (coaches included) a big hug.
