Kinda cool to check out some of these names. We had a good run in the mid/late 90s. ;)

Imagine ben hansborough got it over Kemba? And jimmer got it over kemba for national POY. Also some weird names I forgot about that did not remember winning it. Wesley Johnson and mamukelashaveli

Didn’t know that Mullin won it 3x… twice in a tie with Ewing. St. John’s was good back then

Kinda crazy Charles D. Smith and Charles E. Smith going back to back

Interesting to think UConn has not had a BE POY since Hasheem Thabeet in the 2009 season.

Footnote: Shabazz Napier did win the AAC POY in 2014
I was just thinking about Shabazz too and forgot it was AAC

That was when I was a freshman at UConn. UConn was usually in the dreaded 8-9 game in those last few Perno years. Louie, JT, Boheim, PJ. Big East wars every game. Earl was our star. He could fill it up. Great memories.

Remember when PC went 10-10 and then Devin Carter won POY even though UConn went 18-2 and Tristen Newton was an AP All American? goooooooooooood times

I agree with you but PC may have been DePaul (last year) levels of bad without Carter. His on/off was insane and the team was still bad/mediocre.

The most bizarre fever dream was when notre dame was a top program. We had a pretty decent rivalry with them.

I think I've seen one notre dame basketball game in the last decade.
