Still laugh at Kemba not winning in 2011...
and Newton was the Bob Cousy award winner for best PG in the nation.Remember when PC went 10-10 and then Devin Carter won POY even though UConn went 18-2 and Tristen Newton was an AP All American? goooooooooooood times
I am glad he did not win it 2011. I think it set him off and motivated him with a controlled anger that set the table for his BET and NCAAT wins.Still laugh at Kemba not winning in 2011...
Interesting to think UConn has not had a BE POY since Hasheem Thabeet in the 2009 season.Kinda cool to check out some of these names. We had a good run in the mid/late 90s. View attachment 105341
Yep, and Jimmer won NPOY over him as well. Another crazy vote. That Kemba ommission is crazy. He wasn't just the best player in the conference, he was the best player in the country.
I was just thinking about Shabazz too and forgot it was AACInteresting to think UConn has not had a BE POY since Hasheem Thabeet in the 2009 season.
Footnote: Shabazz Napier did win the AAC POY in 2014
That was when I was a freshman at UConn. UConn was usually in the dreaded 8-9 game in those last few Perno years. Louie, JT, Boheim, PJ. Big East wars every game. Earl was our star. He could fill it up. Great memories.Didn’t know that Mullin won it 3x… twice in a tie with Ewing. St. John’s was good back then
And Charles F. Smith juuust missed the following yearKinda crazy Charles D. Smith and Charles E. Smith going back to back
