I know, old news, but five guys among the top 20 players in the country is absurd
The avg is 10!!! That’s insane. Most teams are prob happy if they had 1 guy in the top 10

Part of why they were so good is because they played with each other. Super talented but also sum of parts. Having 25% of the top 20 players in the country is ridiculous. Not sure how long this metric has been around but would be curious to what the second best result is in its existence, and if anywhere close.
Sum better than it's parts doesn't exactly fit all that great with them. The starting 5 is all NBA players.

We're not a young team. Our top 7 players are a junior who is a back to back national champion, a sophomore who is a national champion, a freshman, a junior, a senior back to back champion, a 5th year senior back to back champion, and a junior.
When you only count 7 yeah, but Nowell and Abraham do get some minutes and will get more as the season goes on. Hurley has 9 deep he can go to which is why we will not be tired in the Maui like most teams are by day 3. Keeping a bunch of splits at 20/20 min like Maheney/Diarra and Johnson/Reed Jr definitely helps.

I think you mean that the whole was greater than the sum of the parts. They fit seamlessly together, covered each other's weaknesses, amplified each other's strengths, and were impeccably coached.

The EvanMiya rankings quantify what we could all see: there will never be another starting 5 like them.

You're right that Hurley has a 9 man rotation to go to, but it's not making the point you think it is. Nowell and Abraham are both outside that 9 man rotation, and looking unlikely to crack it because of how experienced everyone ahead of them is

Any injury in the top 8 opens a door even if just for a couple weeks. Hoping nothing bad but just last year with Castle and Clingan dinged some we got Ball and Stewart and Sampson minutes.

So even a little time off for Maheney means Diarra gets tons and Nowell bumps up.

So there is always a chance and statistically good odds Singare, Abraham, Nowell could see a bump in minutes.

If Mahaney can't score, defend, etc. better soon, we may see Nowell get more time. Seeing him in the first half of the last game may have been a message being sent.

All the regular starters from both 2023 and 2024 have played in the NBA this year (aside from Karaban obviously).

2023:
Newton, Hawkins, Jackson, Karaban, Sanogo
2024:
Newton, Spencer, Castle, Karaban, Clingan

2025?
Mahaney (super iffy with his size)
Ball (I believe)
McNeeley (yes)
Karaban (yes)
Johnson (Athletically he is NBA worthy but he doesn't have the shot to play the four and is too thin to play the five)

This year is really about the talented depth on the bench because there is a ton of it, perhaps more than any other two years.

There's only so many games that Johnson starts and Reed, Jr. plays better off the bench before Reed, Jr. starts. He's the better NBA talent anyway.

Maheney has to show us something in Maui.
