I really wish this would be come a national story.

However, ESPN has so much control with shaping news and crafting their 'own' story I find it difficult that this could ever get off the ground.

Rolling all over Twitter...

I'm not a huge twitter guy, but who's reporting it?

I sort of feel like ESPN is so big that people are afraid to speak out against it because they'll just get swallowed up by them.

The fact that it's on USA Today is a start.

The line below is very telling however

Even so, Mountain West commissioner Craig Thompson says: "There was a football coach in our league who said, 'I'd rather play one Tuesday or Wednesday game a year on ESPN than all 12 on Versus, CBS Sports (Network) and The Mountain.'
"I said, 'That's ludicrous.' But that's what coaches think because kids watch ESPN."

I'm very wary of USA Today - their sports department has a distinct ACC lean, plus they they run something called the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll. They're not entirely objective in all of this themselves.

Let me know when the Yahoo! Sports expose comes out; then I'll be impressed...

mothertrucking chainsaw what?!?!?!?!

But even within the Big East, there are rebuttals to that scenario. "I saw (DeFilippo's) comments," says West Virginia athletics director Oliver Luck, whose school is leaving the Big East to join the Big 12. "I'm not sure I subscribe to any particular theory in that regard."

Connecticut President Susan Herbst likewise dismissed the theory to USA TODAY."

If you need any more proof of President Herbst's gameplan, look no further. This comment, and the comment by Desmond Conner today, tells you all that you need to know.
