I like the 7:30pm kickoff for Maryland @ UCONN. THat's awesome.

It's not awesome, it blows for people that actually go to games. I can accept a night game if it's on national TV. Night game for no exposure is a bad joke.

Love the start time on a Saturday night. Has Uconn ever lost a September home night game at the Rent? The warm weather and brews flowing should lead to a loud stadium (as long as people actually make it in from their tailgate).

All I care about is winning the game. Saturday night start time should make for a better crowd and that could mean a better chance at winning and being 2-0 when Michigan comes in.

Sounds like by better you mean drunker.

I like the start time. Not sold on this game being espn3. That has nothing do do with uconn tho...

You know where Maryland is on the list of ESPN teams to pimp? Ask Fox and the BiG. We're lucky it wasn't a midnight game.

What? My friends and I LOVE night games. The atmosphere is so much better and you get to tailgate during the actualy day not at 7am. How is the world does it blow?

Yes, SNY will pick this up. All our football games on ESPN 3 are on SNY so you don't really need to freak out. Also, quit bitching and buy a ticket.

Kind of. Drunker means louder right? Louder fans on defense leads to mistakes by the offense and Edsall losing his mind.

What if there's a party that night that the students would rather go to though.

UConn-Maryland on espn freaking 3? You got to be kidding me.

Some day we'll find out if the 2014 aac/espn agreement counts espn3 as a national platform. And if it does, the idiocy of not buying back our media rights from the aac for $2m and in turn, contracting with sny, will be one of the biggest ups ever demonstrated from uconn leadership on an athletic issue.

@Of all games in the tri-state area to jam on ESPN3...the return of Edsall and all the animosity that goes with it would get massive regional interest from Md thru NJ and Connecticut right into Boston!!Makes no sense?Watch them try and put BC/WF on over the air TV in its place!Remember the ACC is their baby!Fool's!!

What's your point? Home teams control television rights. I don't think we were dumb enough to give that up.

They've been doing that to RU for 3 years that Im sure of!!When their really feeling nasty they can hold on to exclusivity rights and even keep you off SNY!

Do you know this for an absolute fact or are you guessing from past years?

Been told UConn asked for the Maryland game to be at 7:30 because of Yum Kippur.

Matt Sarzyniak@mattsarz1h
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the student spelled Yom Kippur incorrectly. Either way, that kinda explains why it went ESPN3.

Love the night games. We usually fair pretty well in them too.

If memory serves i know we lost to Iowa state at night in September in 2011, but other than that, I'm drawing a blank.

Requesting a Saturday night time slot because of Yom Kippur explains why Maryland @ UCONN is on ESPN3 exclusively? Oh. Never mind everything else then. That makes perfect sense.

Not.

Not everyone is going to be happy with night games, not everyone is going to be happy with day games. You can't please everybody. Saturday evening is college football primetime though.

For every UCONN fan around the country, we're on TV, you just have to figure out how to link up to ESPN3.com, and you'll be able to watch, and probably decent production.

For the rest of us, see you at the stadium.

What time does the lot open for a 7:30 start?
Lot opens 4 hours before kickoff, in this case 3:30 P.M.

I'm just glad for the evening start. My whole family was invited to a wedding that day (Bride & Groom are both Providence Grads-nuff said). I'm leaving the reception & heading to the Rent for the REAL party.

When my brother and his fiance set their date for Sept. 7th I nearly had a heart attack til I got my hands on a schedule. Three fun (drunk) Saturdays in a row for me!

Yes, it exactly does explain it. UConn didn't just let the conference and network put the cgame where it would have the best coverage -- they asked for it to be at night so, like, a chunk of paying season tickets holders and donors would be able to go to the game, and were willing to live with the tv consequences of the decision. Instead of worrying about whether it would fit or not fit into your grand tv strategy.

Please don't jump headfirst into the HFD zone of ludicrous self-importance. Sometimes a woman actually does just have a headache.

If this is true I want all our games on ESPN3. More money for SNY, less for ESPN.

I'll feel like a penishead if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure thats how it works for UConn hoops and football. Like if you look at a TV schedule all the games that end up on SNY are listed as ESPN3.
