ESPN Way Too Early Top 25: UConn #4

CBS Sports has the Huskies #5.

Here's a 2 minute video where they discuss why they ranked them 5th.

You made a bunch of posts about it. It's even more sad you can't admit it. I don't feel like looking for them, hopefully you had enough sense to delete them when multiple people told you how pathetic it is.

Okay let’s shut this one down. Way too early rankings are just plain stupid considering there are thousands of players still in the portal and in our case, our best returning player is still deciding.

I've never seen an on air personality more nervous than Boone. Dude was tripping over every 5th word it felt like.

Does anyone else besides Fanta think that Duke will hit lighting in a bottle two years in a row with freshman having to start? Flag was a once in a lifetime player.
They have the Boozer twins, and possibly Nate Ament, the last undecided top 10 kid. Plus 2 other 5 stars.

Not an unfair point, but to be honest, when I was in grad school, I really wasn’t spending much time chilling around a campus. It was basically two full time jobs for me.
In grad school now and I'm happy its on a completely different campus.

I went to one game this year to watch us and had student section tickets and the little boogers wouldn't sit down. Had to move at halftime. Lol

If Karaban returns are we preseason #1?
I think so. But if he doesn't return, we're probably filling his spot with someone that's one of the best 4s in the portal at that time. I usually try to stay relatively conservative on expectations/hype, but I am awfully bullish on our squad next year with or without Karaban and expect a preseason ranking inside the top 5.

We gave the college basketball world a year off - we'll be back on our UConn grind again next season.

I saw Alabama dropped 10 spots in the latest CBS 25+1 poll that gets updated daily. Not that I ever hate seeing an SEC team drop but what happened?

Something really funny about two guys attacking each other and bjc42 cheerfully hitting "like" on every post.
I guess since he tends to disappear in season bjc42 (which by the way auto corrects to buckwheat just amazing) is the official BY off season muse. Amongst the days with no new news, wild rumors and the full out throat punches, bjc42 rolls in and likes every post.

He will be a legend if he ever disappears although I seem to recall him telling us he was pretty young.

I mean Zion was 5 or 6 years ago and arguably better.
Meh. By KenPom's metric, his teammate RJ Barrett was better, as were 6 players in the country. Flagg was his runaway #1 this year.

Players improve and Silas is a great defender. Our defense was better at the end of the season.
Indeed. We came within 2 pts of the eventual national champs and the problem in that game was not our defense, but our offense.

The KPOY is not strictly about who is better, but simulating who people would vote for. In this case, the algorithm put the guy with higher usage and minutes ahead of the definitely better guy.
