Think about U. of F. spending a total of $700m on facilities in the last several years.

This is a massive amount of money being bonded by the academic side. I'm not saying that the AD isn't going to kick in $$ to help service the massive yearly payments. They probably will (although it hasn't happened at other schools).
I'm just pointing out the magnitude of this kind of investment, and also pointing out that going "pro" for these athletic programs is a real risk. The money wouldn't be there to fund this kind of thing if these teams went pro.
This facilities are why I think the whole college sports going pro idea is untenable. How would it be possible? If you're going to run it like a business by paying the athletes their fair share, how are you going to pay for these facilities?
