No big surprise. It probably costs them less than showing repeats of AWA wrestling and Worlds Strongest Man competitions.

Do we have to accept this? Why can't there be a bidding war between ESPN and NBC and is NBC not able to up their offer?

That is what I never understood about the NBC offer - they basically handed over content for nothing.

Cue the conspiracy theory: NBC is just another pawn in ESPN's epic quest to destroy the University of Connecticut!!

Looks like this is the final dagger. Buy the content and bury it on FOX-Papua/New Guinea.

Whoever offers the most exposure should be where the Big East ends up at.

I'm guessing both parties don't expect Cincy and UConn to be a part of the BE much longer so they really could care less.

If NBC was really interested in building a sports network they would have over paid for the product. Didn't happen.

They bought the content with the intention of putting in attic....never to be seen. What a shame.

At least I know where the ESPN channels and SNY are on my dial. It would be midway through the half before I'd find NBCSN OR CBSSN.

You are an optimist to think our product is actually aired on something other than ESPNu#4 Asia Feed at 2am EST.

I also look forward to the 'same less than enthusiastic' coverage from the ESPN football talking heads.

Well if you enjoy Jared Diamond you would know there is a lot we could learn from Papua New Guinea.

Hey you turned down ACC offers not once but twice! What do you expect.

Really show me where UConn turned down the ACC or any other conference. If it wasn't for BCU UConn would have been in the ACC instead of Pitt.

It does say the conference presidents need to vote to approve this.

Maybe Blaudschun was right.

NBC owns SNY

NBC Universal owns a sliver of it. (Comcast essentially owns NBC.)

The Mets own 65% of SNY, Time Warner owns 25%+ and NBC owns less than 10%.

Here's what I don't get. Aresco is telling ESPN that they have to give the BE the same exposure NBC promised. So, essentially, ESPN can't bury them.

What did NBC promise that's so hard for ESPN to match?

ESPN has four or five cable stations and can sub games out to Fox - NBC essentially has one cable channel.

NBC brought a spork to a gunfight.

Dunno, People seem to think NBC promised several network games.

The idea that NBC was promising "prime time exposure" doesn't make a lot of sense. They sure as hell were never going to run Big East games on NBC in prime time and if the games were going to be on cable, NBC Universal is a pale imitator to ESPN's family.
