I don't care who, where, or when we play. Give me a bowl game and a win and I'll be happy. This program has been a dumpster fire for too long. A Bowl win, while meaningless due to bowl games becoming irrelevant, would be huge for this program.
No attack but your use of meaningless / irrelevant says a lot. Not sure UConn has ever made a dime going to a bowl game. Even The Fiesta Bowl was ridiculous. 1.8 mill loss. how much did the fiesta bowl cost Uconn - Google Search

I will consider a game of respect without extreme travel. We simply have no panache to draw UConn fans that cover the expense of a distance bowl game. Attended The Myrtle Beach Bowl, good time but no revenue for UConn. The school lost money.

Have you seen USC this season? They can't get out of their own way & there is talk that their coach is on the hot seat. Playing them in the post-season would be a godsend for this program publicity wise. I would welcome the opportunity.

Would certainly be another opportunity for the coach-killing UConn Huskies. I feel like someone should start mounting heads like deer. Charlie Weis, Mike Bloomgren, who else?

This will he the norm going forward for those not in the playoffs.
Chin, this sucks!

If this is the case, and the committees know this, then we literally will have no shot to ever go to a bowl against (what I consider) a worthwhile BOWL opponent. The committees won't bother scheduling the game if they know it'll be UConn vs. UNC's or Illinois' B-team, because no one will watch it and the networks will pay less, the sponsors pay less, etc. etc. etc.

Then the only way to get a cool bowl that the opponent shows up for, would be to go 12-0...?
The truth is probably not this fatal ^, but either way this saddens me.

Before we melt down, do you think UConn players who will likely be drafted might skip a bowl game?

The entire bowl game system for every team going forward is shot. P4 team of any talent is fielding more than 75% of their roster for a non-playoff bowl game. It's get in to the transfer portal, take visits and find a new team as a priority.
Everything you have ever known about the bowl game system has forever changed.
Welcome to the revolution.

Not unless the TV ratings go down.

We have 127 bowl games because viewers watch them and ESPN makes money on them.

It’s not nearly as likely. If you’ve played at UConn for a bunch of years, a chance to win a bowl against a P-4 team would be a big deal and good way to end your career. If you’re at USC and you’re finishing your career playing us, you don’t care enough to risk anything. Your year has already been a huge disappointment.

Just the way it is at the moment.

There is actually a great argument to be made about moving the bowl games to the beginning of the season so that everyone is there.

What do you use for eligibility? The previous season's record? In that case the everyone might not be there.

Yeah you use the last season. But at least you get everyone there that would be there for the current season,

Bowls are a farce and they have been for a while. The highlight last year was nerds like Nicole Auerbach going Gaga over a pop tart.

I would much rather have a bowl season that is an appetizer for the playoffs. Hold all the bowls in December and start the playoff on New Year's Day. It would save the bowls and build excitement for the playoffs.

CBS Sports.
Good lord.

I believe shutting down the bowl system was part of the SEC/B1G league plan as well as the Rudy plan. They are now glorified scrimmages for high level teams and rewards for G5. However, even G5 teams aren't immune from players sitting out. It's sad because I used to love bowl season.
