I would take either one, gratefully. It's good to still be in the conversation.

based on wiki, the Camellia Bowl in the Cramton Bowl is now the IS4S Salute To Veterans Bowl.

"It is the host of the annual Salute to Veterans Bowl (formerly the Camellia Bowl) for the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS); the FCS Kickoff, an annual season-opening game in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision; and of Montgomery's five high school squads. It was previously home to the former Blue–Gray Football Classic, a collegiate all-star game usually played on Christmas Day, the Alabama State Hornets football team, and hosted the first ever football game played under the lights in the South.[1][2]"

The January 3 bowl would be much better as we would be able to practice the whole time prior to the bowl game. Having a bowl game on December 14 is basically the same weekend as the Army Navy game and we’d only get a few extra practices in.

Those extra practices after the season is over to the bowl game are so important to a program like us. We’ve had so little of them over the past 13 years.

i'd bet on us getting screwed on the bowl no matter how well we do. 8-4 uconn vs. 6-6 midling MAC team on a tuesday night in december, in mobile AL. Attendance 9500

sure would be nice to get one final shot against a meh P4 team that folks have heard of, but i'm not holding my breath.

I hope my take ages like milk.

I don't care who, where, or when we play. Give me a bowl game and a win and I'll be happy. This program has been a dumpster fire for too long. A Bowl win, while meaningless due to bowl games becoming irrelevant, would be huge for this program.

The bowl game at the South Alabama football stadium in Mobile is infinitely better than a run down concrete slab in Montgomery.

No thanks. We’re not ready for that level, based on what I’ve seen from us this year.
Have you seen USC this season? They can't get out of their own way & there is talk that their coach is on the hot seat. Playing them in the post-season would be a godsend for this program publicity wise. I would welcome the opportunity.

To be fair, USC is greatly underperforming this year so we can catch them off guard and steal a win and get also get Riley fired this year. But then hire Riley as OC, promote Sammis to assistance HC and get a good offense with a great defense.

quick question - is it possible that if by some unlikely fortune we get to play a P4 team in a bowl - that the players on that P4 team could opt out of the game? like... they are insulted by being put with us and then the starters just pack it in?

I kind of feel that way too. They will have a ton of guys hitting the portal. Maybe an interim head coach. I could see it working for us.

I would expect that.

If we had our original oline, and better qb play, I’d give it a try. As is, it might be embarrassing. The last thing we need is something to tell everyone we aren’t competitive.
