Eric Reibe appreciation Thread

IIRC- Reibe missed two FTs late in the Arizona game which could have tightened the game up. Was visibly upset in the handshake line(at himself). Has bounced back since then and really grown up in Reed's absence.. Give him tons of credit for his resilience and tenacity. High character kid who plays with BBIQ. Perfect "wing man" for Reed this year when needed. Will pay huge dividends in March. Gonna be making a lot of money in the League some day.

On tonight’s field of 68 dauster said Reibe had a terrible senior season and there was talk of him decommitting but then he balled out during the summer for the German national team.

If I recall correctly he wasn't a star in the McDonald's game and if that's correct it's a great sign because Donyell and Rip didn't tear up the court in their McD's games.
He looks so mature, is making great moves to score and is starting to look better as a defender, rebounder and shot blocker.
Seems ahead of where DC was at this point in their careers as an all around player. Especially with his variety of skills on offense.

Does Reibe shave yet? He is years away from physical maturity. Reed is going to struggle to get to 100%. Hammy and ankle are going to be with him for the season unless Hurley willing to do a 100% shutdown, which is not feasible at this point. Reibe impact on season going to be much greater than we thought before Tarris got hurt. He’s been a revelation.

Let me put this out there to derail this thread with a Black Friday take.

"This team is better with Riebe starting and Reed coming off the bench ".

Reibe played great yesterday. Against Centers who were more tall and skilled than large and strong and athletic. We’re already forgetting the Arizona game where we got outrebounded 2 to 1?

Reibe is way ahead of where you’d expect a freshman big to be offensively, and if he’s here next year should be really really good. But until he can rebound and defend against non-European centers let’s not pretend he’s a starting center on a final four level team. Yet.

I don’t think anyone is pretending he’s a starting caliber center on an elite team at this point. But how quickly and how well he could transition to the college game was a big question mark for this squad and so far he’s probably better than anyone could have reasonably expected 7 games in. He clearly still has deficiencies that he needs to work on, but his progress is very encouraging.

Fully agree with all of that.

I've been most impressed with him being able to play 5-7 minute stints without getting winded or making silly fouls because he is tired.

His conditioning is way ahead of where I was expecting it to he for a true freshman center.

Heard that - found it very weird. Not sure how decomitting would have made any sense. We would have been scrambling for a backup 5. He had a guaranteed playing time role, starting role as a sophomore and was an effen Husky.

Reibe has been fantastic.

He's learning to be more of a rim protector. He's getting stronger on the boards - 6reb in 19min vs Bryant, 7reb in 22min vs Illinois after the Arizona game. He's getting more confident taking and making shots, including a turnaround fadeaway post jumper yesterday (!!!)

We have a true freshman center playing 17 minutes a game and doesn't really look winded. If anything he's recently seemed to get BETTER as the game goes on. He's led our team in scoring twice this season

I'm so excited for him. If he continues to develop and improve through the rest of the year, I'll actually go into next year really excited to have him penciled in as starting C next year
