I am talking about the Cal and Ole Miss guys. They didn't play much this year, and while I don't know what either team picked up, it seems possible that one or both have upgraded their rosters.

Just decommit and get out of their NLI, which is automatic these days. Cole Cloer had to enter the portal because he went to NC State early as a redshirt 2nd semester.

We were heavily involved with him and at that time I said he was the recruit I most wanted. Tounde is a Larry Johnson-like player who can get buckets. He'd be amazing in our lineup.

Wouldn't get your hopes up, unless Hurley is willing to push a frosh out.

I'd expect to see a couple frosh pull a Darius Adams before it's all said and done. Scheyer has so many and now he's recruiting over them. Rippey hasn't signed his LOI, and if the get the Blackwell kid, he'll be like 5th in the pecking order in terms of PT. Not even sure why he signed with Duke.

It’ll happen - when he keeps recruiting over them in the portal they’ll figure it out at some point. He hasn’t had to the last couple years because of all the frosh stars. These average or down classes won’t be duped.

I honestly don’t know why any of these programs get/take more than 2 of these high blue chip kids, too many mouths. There are plenty of programs that would give them instant PT. I expect an even distribution of them, other than Cal. If this fifth year gets passed even more so.

I mean that kid was a top 15 recruit but played the same position as Cam Boozer. What did they recruit him for exactly? Lots of freshmen still signing with Dook as Scheyer isn’t smart enough to realize you can’t build a team that starts 3 freshman that is going to win against teams built in the portal consisting of 5th year grown men. Hurley has done a great job at only recruiting 2-3 guys per year and filling in from the portal.

This guy is really good. Just because he plays on Tulsa doesn't mean anything. He has crazy ups and just a top notch point guard who can score and penetrate against anyone. He has Tyrese Maxey to his game. Seeing him up and personal I came very impressed with how athletic he is. Obviously Auburn was impressed as they went after him in the Portal after seeing him first hand in the championship game. I would love to have some more athletes on our squad. I mean skilled players are nice but I like a good mix.

They're all butt hurt over there that NK left, which is hysterical. They want every kid that is recruited over to stay and continue battling it out with thy next 4-5 McD AA's he brings in, or portal adds.

Well except for Duke. They're still a legit 11 deep with studs. These are their projected backups: Deron Rippey, Caleb Foster, Bryson Howard, Drew Scharnowski, Maxime Meyer and Sebastian Wilkins as the 11th dude.

That team would finish in the top half of the Big East.

Actually, they are for more accurate than they are not. There are exceptions, but for the most part, they afford a lot of directional understanding of kids. 247 has evaluators on the ground at just about everything. If you look at who is going in this years mocks, it pretty much aligns with the exception of kids like Wagler.

Sure, there will be some lower rated kids that pop as freshmen/sophomores. Those are hard kids to identify because they're not at all the summer events.

I think they nail 75% of the top 20 kids pretty well. Nobody is missing on Cooper Flagg or Dybansta etc. Once you get past that, there's a lot of kids at ranked 120 that are better than the kid ranked 40. It's not always clear what will translate. I watched Tyler Kokek in 6th grade. He was amazing dominating 8th graders in a tournament. Zero stars. Now on the Knicks. All I'm saying is that the portal means those kids are discovered by big schools very quickly.
