Entering the portal - 2026

Was supposed to go around Mullins. Florida is your likely preseason 1. Top 5 will be the same suspects, some scramble of Florida, UM, Illinois, UConn, then MSU, Duke and Zona just on the outside.
Good lord, you just posted Todd Golden is going to the Warriors.

Is this a cognitive problem?

I have no other explanation for your posting history.

I remember when Jaden Winston first signed with Manhattan, John Gallagher told me when I previewed the team over the offseason that he was shocked that he committed to Jaspers.

That was back when conferences like the MAAC were starting to get better than usual freshmen due to these caliber of players getting overlooked due to the portal getting stronger.

Long story short, I'd like Winston as the backup for this year with a chance of him taking over the starting reigns as a senior, should he earn that.

It was a rumor I posted. You are very much what mods have warned about. Anger management is very affordable.

Too bad we aren't connected with him. He is a big time athlete, creator and defender at the PG. I saw him personally up front against Auburn and he was special. I would love a PG that plays like this. Has Ryan Boatright athletic ability but taller. Looks to be going to either Auburn, Oklahoma or Cincy.

surprised at this one, NIL money must be crazy right now because he's a guy expected to be drafted in the teens/late lottery. Florida's frontcourt will be strong once again

It really does make me wonder what the NIL/revenue share Haugh is getting is. I also wonder how much Adam Silver and the people in the NBA front office are monitoring these decisions. Does the NBA think about increasing the rookie contracts? I don't know the answer to that. All I know is there will be a lot of deliberation with the NBAPA and other factions within the NBA if they were to consider doing that.

This news is especially surprising considering Todd Golden has been mentioned for the Golden State job if Kerr retires. Maybe Haugh returning means that Golden is returning to Florida and Kerr is returning to Golden State. Lots of curious questions are being pondered with this news, at least for me it is.

I mean, that is a theory. They were both primary shooters without passing or elite ball-handling skills last year. Both are a pure 2 and undersized to play the 3. Mullins showed some rebounding occasionally but Solo never really did. So, yes, my theory is that they don't mix well. And, yes, not shooting well through six straight games in the NCAA tourney could be evidence of that. It's not proof but it does support the theory.
Correlation causation. That's all you're asserting here. None of those the things you listed implies the other in any way. Especially the handle and rebound part. Those are "deficiencies" that could make the TEAM worse, but would have absolutely nothing to do with how either of them shot the ball.

Meh. Every penny rookies get is a penny the veterans cannot get. And since nobody that has yet to be drafted is actually part of the player's association, I don't think they'll lift one finger to change this.

And there in lies the rub. In the mid 1990s veterans and rookies were having clashes on the issue of the rookie contracts. The veterans were upset that the rookie contracts were way too large. The players' association in the 1990s were split, not 50-50, but were split on the issue and eventually the rookie scale came into existence.

But I do wonder, and am likely to think, the NBA is monitoring this. The prevailing thought is that players projected to be in the mid 20s and later would strongly consider returning to college for a payout in NIL/revenue share. This thought might have to be amended to say players projected in the high teens or later would strongly consider this.

Why is the notion that Solo Ball is better suited coming off the bench, even before the injury announcement, keep getting mentioned? In no world was Solo coming off the bench, before or after this injury. Solo came off the bench his freshman year on an absolutely stacked team and showed he was a starting SG his sophomore year. I believe his struggles this past season were because of him battling through an injury the entire time. He will come back healthy and be the starting SG once again. I do not understand how you could have watched a healthy Solo Ball in '25 and come to the conclusion that he is better suited coming off the bench.

We could be and you wouldn’t know it

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Former catcher...too many foul tips to the noggin.

Florida super loaded. Sounds like Duke about to add big time transfer in Blackwell- interesting to see what happens with Thiam- I thought he would’ve signed with Michigan yesterday- but I am guessing still will.

Some guy on Tulsa choosing between three programs that would be lucky to be on the bubble in 11 months is holding a press conference to tell us about it?

Duke with a big pick up.

Thanks for posting this. This didn't surprise me at all. I read a little bit of the Devil's Den blog and they were very optimistic in getting Blackwell. In addition to that, 247 had a 100% Crystal Ball prediction for John Blackwell going to Duke. It's not 100% when a player gets that 100% Crystal Ball prediction, but if I had to guess I would say it's at minimum 90% and more likely 95% certain.

But wait, didn't Steph Curry and Dame Lilliard do just fine well over a decade ago?! Things in CBB surely don't change all that much in 15+ years, right?!
Looks like it has changed a hell of a lot in just a few years. Reappearance of the Big Man/Men. What works in the pros does not necessarily work in college. Keeping an open mind about change and what is working (or cannot be stopped) is staying one step ahead.
Hurley has adapted better than any coach I can think of and that is to his credit.

It’s gonna be the same group of teams. Thiam will wind up at UM. Duke still waiting on Sarr.

Our American basketball system is shit. This transfer portal nonsense which results in what we see now is helping it become even shittier. This mid major transfer up thing is hampering careers and removing another American talent pipeline to the NBA by having these guys mess up their development trajectory chasing short term money and 15 minutes of fame.

I hate it.

The usual mean girls clique is showing up like clock work with wrong assumptions on what’s being said.

Who the hell said this man?
What is your definition of short term money? The median net worth in CT households is $250,000.
If you make half a mil in NIL and it pays for your mom and little brother to move into a safe neighborhood,
you have won.
