Entering the portal - 2026

If you’re talking about Dioubate from Kentucky, he’s on a visit to LSU today. He isn’t locked up at all

Does every single recruit visit them? Good lord. It's like a conveyor belt.
This will never end for them until the AD grows a pair and hires a coach who's been a winner at multiple lower level jobs (like Dan Hurley) and thus has learned how to develop and operate a program. No successful coach at a high level program is going to leave a good situation to go to the land of past glory.
Pope likely has one more year - I'd assume they will be running a search concurrently. He has been a massive whiff for them, cultural miss. Next hire will be really critical for them, and they might be going head to head with Kansas. I wonder when the last time two blue bloods ran their searches against each other.

They're unlikely to attract a big name after we witnessed UNC trying. Maybe Donovan is on the beach. Otherwise maybe it's the St Louis coach.

I actually saw him yesterday walking down the street with his wife in the Fenway area of Boston. Not sure if he lives there or was just visiting for something. I was tempted to stop him and talk some hoops and get some information on the transfers but figured his wife wouldn't appreciate it. I did meet both of them about 20 years ago at an AAU event in RI that they were working at. She was very nice. Not sure what she's doing with him. 😂
Surely they would have remembered your last meeting with them...... 😎 plus she just might have been biding her time with him waiting for your next meet up!

The good news is Kentucky's roster transfers every year so he'll be available next year when we have a starting PG spot available
It really is - and Pope is likely to be fired next year, so I'd imagine he's right back in the portal. It would have been great to have him in our system for a year before he assumes the role, but this could work out well.

We could start the year by having a roster of:

Wilkins
Country
Landrew
Khamenia
Hines

Ugh… I was thoroughly enjoying the chaos fest at Rupp. This is a great pickup.

Is a decent scorer from the 5th place team of the #23 conference really a great pickup? We would have never heard of this guy if Samford or UNC Greensboro hit a couple of more shots in the SoCon tournament.

You watch the Furman game? Talent is talent and he was arguably the best guard on the court that day. I think he can play. Now maybe he was extra juiced bc it was UConn and he’s a Mass guy, but he showed out and exuded confidence that he belonged.

Once upon a time Cam was a scorer for an under 500 Patriot league team… if you can play, you can play.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned here, I haven't kept up with the whole thread.

How is it that Dior Johnson hasn't gotten more press since entering the portal? Is it because this will be his 14th school? Is he a guy with a known attitude problem? Something else entirely?

I know he did it at Tarleton State but the dude averaged 24ppg in less than 27 minutes on greater than 51% shooting and over 53% from deep...

... Will Mark Pope be in on him once he gets desperate enough?

B-b-b-baggage. Can’t see someone touching him.

Furman is one game, we were missing Demary, and Hurley was trying to end the game as quickly as possible without getting anyone hurt.

Wilkins is a good athlete in a low major. From that to Kentucky is a huge jump, and those same shots are not going to be there in the SEC. Maybe he pulls it off, but saying a kid jumping from Furman to Kentucky is a "great pickup" is crazy. If he averages 12 ppg and 4 apg, it will be an achievement,
