Entering the portal - 2026

I'm convinced Holloway is part of the problem, I don't think high majors will be knocking on his door.
Syracuse honestly should’ve went for him, would’ve been better than McNamara, who seems to be just a continuation of Autry / Boeheim.

You could be right as even Clark is transferring and he was given the green light to lead the offense and be the main scoring threat. That was a surprise. These others like HInes and Darr showed glimpses of what they could offensively if given a chance but it does seem like the lack offensive prowess at Seton Hall could be an issue for a lot of these players.
The reason given by local NJ media was they couldn't agree to his agent's number, so he hit the portal. Clark played well for SH but in this era where teams are going bigger I don't see how a 5'9" PG who doesn't shoot well from 3 commands a huge payday.

Yeah I remember that. Not sure why I forgot that. Then it really is a money thing in Seton Hall and not because players don't want to play in Halloway's system. That is what I thought and just goes back to my original point that I think Shaheen will be gone soon without any real support to keep and bring in good players.

.-.

Pope is a recruiting wh0re with no plan in mind, in on everyone throwing spahetti at the wall to see what sticks. It's kinda gross to watch, desperation recruiting. Meanwhile the coaches that know what they're doing are targeted with short lists.

I didn't know we are also on this guy.

Gotta think we are on more than 2 centers when we need 2 centers. Hurley can't be that confident when everyone wants one of these guys, many with a ton of NIL.

Based on Hurley's last comments regarding the portal, this has to be the most miserable time of year for him.

There are a number of big name teams out there with glaring needs for 5s, some on that list, but you can add about 10 others like StJ, etc. It's a good time to be 7ft tall. Don't know how May is getting two of quality this year.

Yeah losing Reibe has definitely put him behind the 8 ball so to speak.

I think it's his situation more than his desired operating procedure. He has an insane fanbase that requires continual gratification. Showing them he's spending at the top of the market to improve keeps them from torching his house this summer.

Playing time is an issue here. Kid wants to start wherever he goes.
Can we sell him on being the sixth man on a national title contender if Demary, Ball, and Mullins return, with the chance he starts if one of them does not come back? I’m actually skeptical about whether he can shoot and defend well enough to lead a Final Four team, but would love to let develop as a role player for a year and see what he looks like starting as a junior.

Don't think we were ever on him. One person put in a random crystal ball and people ran with it
I get the sense the staff's priority right now besides retaining our own guys is dealing with the 5 position. They want to see who they get before figuring out what to do at the 4.

Remember, UConn is a little behind most teams because a) we played in the title game which was a week ago b)trying to retain as much of our roster as possible c)down a staff member with Luke leaving

Tom Moore is on this stuff during the season. There's no way we weren't doing the work behind the scenes before the portal opened. There's also no way they didn't see the possibility of Reibe not returning.

Never made much sense to grab an undersized 3-4 when we have one already.

Another one off the board. Going fast. We may end up shopping in the bargain aisle if we don't land one soon. If we want a quality option, it's Hines, Diop and the Cinci kid left really. Then it falls off a cliff with a number of schools still in high need (including StJ). This is going to be a war.

Noted - this is a guard and not the center. 4 good ones left.

My call - Reibe ends up playing the 4, guess is UK. I don't think the kid has any interest in banging, wants to face the basket. I bet Pope the Dope looks to keep up with some of these other teams doing the big at the 4 and uses it to get him.
They could try but he doesn’t have the foot speed or athleticism to succeed defensively.

The all euro 5 is almost complete

He's a 6'5 guard, go back to sleep
